It was six o'clock when the automated, sliding door slid up, revealing three guards all dressed in black clothing with helmets and protective visors. They walked into the room, making no effort to conceal their movements.
They stopped in front of a bed in the corner of the room. Out of the five beds that were in the room, Dr. Greenwood had specified this specific Hybrid out of the other four.
One of the guards nodded and the white sheet covered in different colored stripes that had been painted on with acrylic was thrown off the bed, revealing the Hybrid that was hiding underneath.
Subject Number five hundred-eighty one, named Kitsune May Greene was snoring soundly.
Kitsune had peach pearl skin and light blue eyes with freckles. She had curly dark red hair that fades to an orange and then white at the tips that was up in a ponytail and a black graphic tee and white pajama shorts.
With another nod of the senior guard's head, Kitsune was hoisted out of her bed and carried out into the hall, leaving the remaining four Hybrids in the room undisturbed. She was carried a few feet before being sat on a bench and shooken awake.
Unfortunately, this was a regular occurrence for all the Hybrids at the facility.
"What?" Kitsune asked, groggily.
"Dr. Greenwood requests your presence in testing chamber number four. She would like to run a few-"
"Tests, i know." Kitsune said.
"Geez, you guys sound like broken tape recorders, you said the same thing last night when you came in our room at twelve o'clock to drag Okami to the testing chamber." She added.
The guards formed a formation around her, two on the side and one behind her so she couldn't run off. Kitsune sighed and walked forward. She just wanted to get this over with and go back to the bed.
Every morning was the same at the Hybrid Research And Study Facility. The scientists would request a Hybrid be brought to one of the many testing chambers and the guards would go retrieve them. That Hybrid was then brought to the chamber and had their vitals taken, were made to run obstacle courses and had their power tested before they were allowed back to their room.
Hybrids were rare. So rare in fact that many people didn't believe that they existed. Hybrids also had powers, though it was unknown how or why. That was what the scientists claimed to be studying, what they claimed the facility was for, to study Hybrids and find out how they came to exist.
They arrived at Test Chamber Four and Kitsune was herded inside.
Dr. Greenwood looked up from her work and smoothed down her skirt and white lab coat and walked over, her high heels clicking against the ground and giving Kitsune a headache.
"You have brought Subject four hundred-eighty one as i requested?" Dr. Greenwood asked in a crisp, professional tone.
"Yes Ma'am, we have. As you van see, we had to wake her up." One of the guards said.
Dr. Greenwood nodded.
"Thank you gentlemen, that will be all. I will ping you when i am finished here so you can take her back." Dr. Greenwood said.
The guards nodded and left the room.
Dr. Greenwood turned to look at Kitsune. She picked up a clipboard and began writing on it.
"Subject #581. Name, Kitsune May Greene. Type, Red Fox Hybrid. Power, Mind Reading." Dr. Greenwood said.
Dr. Greenwood pointed to a chair.
