I jolted up as far as my seatbelt would let me, panting.
“Bad dream?” Aleks asked quietly. He snuck a concerned side glance at me before returning his attention to the road.
“Kind of…” I mumbled in response. “It just- it was really weird. One of those demigod dreams, you know.” I slowly relaxed my breath and curled back into the leather seat. Aleks reached over and rested his hand on my knee reassuringly.
“Wanna talk about it? Might make you feel better.”
I scoffed under my breath and told him about my dream. He listened carefully, making sure to get every word. When I was done we both sat in silence. I took his hand in mine and played with the ring on his finger. After a few moments he spoke. His voice sounded oddly loud in the quiet of the car.
“What do you think it means?”
“I don’t know. And to be honest, I really don’t want to find out.” I replied. “You’re lucky.”
Aleks smiled. “How am I lucky?”
“You don’t get dreams that could quite possibly mean something bad’s about to happen. Demigod dreams suck.”
“Just because I’m no demigod doesn’t mean I can’t kick your butt any day.”
“Oh yeah? Pick a time and place mister, and we can see about that.”
Aleks laughed while he pulled the car over to the side of the road. He parked there and removed his hand from mine to grope around in the backseat for our backpacks of clothes. “That’s going to have to wait, H.”
“Why? I’m so looking forward to whooping you.”
“Because, we’re here.”
“What? Where?"
“Camp Half-Blood.”
