Hello, my name is clara I got you for my thirteenth birthday which is today. I am exited to have a journal but I don't really know what to write you see. Since my mother died when I was seven I've tried to shut everyone out and not think happy thoughts since my mother can't think happy thoughts along with me. My father has always been a business focused father with little care for my sister beth and I. My father remarried an ugly witch who has an ugly daughter as in mother goose's stories.

Days can be so dreary and dull and I get scolded all of the time at school. I have one friend named Sue who helps the pain a little and tries to distract me by taking me ice skating or to the general store for a peppermint. She's the only one I'm living for. My step sister Beth is a total different story. Her main goals in life are to impress my father which is nearly impossible or impressing the gentleman. My father owns a general store with a hair parlor inside of it. It is the first in the whole state. Can you believe that? Where did he get the money you ask. My grandfather was a very wealthy man and my father is an only child so he got all of my grandfathers savings.

One day I walked into my sisters room and guess what I saw! My sister was on the floor with different colors of hair in burlap and cloth bags. My father gave Beth a hat mold and she had glued the hair into it. It was was the same exact style and color of her secret crush named William f. Patterson. Can you believe that! She must of offered to sweep up the hair parlor right afterwards William got his hair cut multiple times. I hope I never turn out like that. If I do, whoever reads this kill me please!

The heat is scorching and I am looking forward to fall. But not the school part. I love how the leafs change and how you can feel the crispness of the air. Animals scurry about trying to collect food before the harsh winter arrives.
