That laughter turned summer strangers to friends,
Those drinks turned smiles to promises,
Sweet whispers under the summer's sun,
Blown through the secrets of the grass.
Autumn came with promises of wine and movies,
But that cold air turned plans to dust,
To dreams of what could have been,
Disappearing into the aether of the reddish leaves.
Winter came and turned promises into "sorry"s,
Sorry turned into goodbye,
And goodbyes turned friends into strangers once again,
Strangers with memories.
And the spring turned those memories,
Into harrowing knived things,
Into memories you could never forget.
As time comes and turns us grey,
It will turn those memories to water,
As you dab your eyes and quell the sadness,
While you remember the good old days,
With those sweet, sweet summer memories,
And we become more than just;
Strangers with memories.
