Cordelia: I got detention today.
Michael: what did you do this time?
Cordelia: the teacher pointed a ruler at me and said, "there's an idiot at the end of the ruler" and I asked, "which end?".

(Basically what I believe: Cordelia always got in trouble for picking on the teachers; Michael always got in trouble for "pranking" them[aka using his experiments/inventions on them])
