Love was something I never expected to feel. To open yourself up to someone, completely vulnerable; it wasn't something I ever imagined I would feel. Then you came into my life and I felt everything. I felt the fireworks, I felt the butterflies, I felt the heartbreak, but most importantly I felt the love. We haven't talked in years and yet, you never slipped my mind. Every thought I hold, somehow you're tangled into it. I still check up on you, make sure no one gets too close because God forbid anyone tries taking you out on a date. They couldn't because you're mine. No one knows yet, hell you don't even know, but you will soon enough sweetheart. You stole my heart and I am completely and utterly okay with it. I was ripped away from you without even having a chance to tell you how I felt, but now that I am coming back, no one will get between us ever again and I can promise you that. Everything I am, everything I will ever be is because of you. They claimed you were a weakness, but little did they know that you are the flame that ignited the monster within me. I fall if you leave, so I pray that you won't ever. I know you wouldn't though, you're too good for that. You're too good for me, and yet I allow you to succumb to my selfish desires. How lucky I was to have a literal angel fall into my life is something I will question for the rest of my life, but I will do so with you by my side. See you soon sweetheart.
I love you.
With all the love in the world,
Leonardo Moretti
He put down the pen, looking over the letter he had written to his girl. Two years he had gone without her and finally, he would see her in the flesh again. Of course, she had no idea, he wanted to surprise her.
He folded the letter up, pressing his lips against it as he walked towards the fireplace. The thick red and yellow flames danced and popped the closer he got as if the devil himself was walking towards it. He leaned down, letting the flames coat his face in a blanket of heat before throwing the letter in. He had been writing her letters for two years and never once did they reach her, as they had become remnants of ash.
His blue orbs hungrily absorbed the scene of the paper falling victim of the vicious flames, and he couldn't help the smile on his face. He had been waiting for this day for what felt like decades, but the time finally arrived.
Tomorrow he will see his Aria.
