Melody's POV

"Sorry," Dad said as he bumped into a woman on the street. "Lady, this uh..." He trailed off, handing the thing back to its owner.

"Thank you."

"Nice haircut, suits you," Dad said, noticing a burn on the woman's face.

"Nice watch."

"Yeah, limited edition."

"Oh, I don't doubt it. Well, have a good evening," The woman said, turning to leave.

"Well that was awkward," I said as we entered the bar.

"Mrs. Davis, mind if I join you?" Dad asked.

"Free country," Mrs. Davis replied.

"It sure is."

"Alright. Where'd you like to start?"

"I just want to say I'm sorry about your loss. I want to know what you think happened," Dad said.

"Look, I brought your damn file. You take it and go. Whatever was in here, he wanted no part of it," Mrs. Davis said and Dad opened the file.

"Clearly, you're waiting for someone else. Yeah? Supposed to meet somebody here?"

"Don't agitate her dad. She's grieving," I scolded him.

"Yeah. Mrs. Davis, your son didn't kill himself, I guarantee you. He didn't kill anyone. Someone used him," Dad said, taking a look at a picture in the file.

"What?"

"As a weapon," I told her.

"You're not the person who called me after all, are you?" Mrs. Davis asked as a phone was slammed on the table.

"Actually, I am," The woman from outside said. She grabbed Dad's arm and twisted it, slamming his head onto the table. Dad managed to quickly grab ahold of Chad's dog tags that were on the table before shoving them into his pocket.

"Hey, hey, hey! What's all this about? What the hell's going on here?" The sheriff asked.

"It's called an arrest," The woman said, pushing Dad to the ground and stepped towards the Sheriff. "Sheriff, is it?"

"Yes ma'am, it is. And you are?"

"Homeland Security. We good here?" She asked, flashing a badge.

"No, we're not good. I need a little more information than that."

"Well, I think it's a little above your pay grade, Sheriff."

"Yeah, well, why don't you get on the horn to Nashville and uh...upgrade me?"

"Hide the file," I whispered to Mrs. Davis, moving unseen during the commotion. She did as I asked.

"Alright, you know what? I was hoping to do this the smart way, but uh...the fun way's always good."

"Deputy, get this woman and..." The sheriff started before the woman shoved the red hot badge into the Sheriff's face, taking his gun and shooting him. Dad and I ran out of the bar and the crazy woman followed us.

"Hey hot wings, you wanna party? You and me, let's go." Dad turned to run again but stopped when he saw one of the other bad guys getting out of a car and walk towards us.

"Dad, I think we're fucked," I said and he nodded.

"I think you're right Tails."

The guy aimed his gun at us, and we ran. Harley threw something at the guy to make him miss us, and we stopped behind a car and saw a man hiding low on the ground.
