Lily stood in shock. She pinched herself to see if she was dreaming, but she wasn't. He was really there. She looked at him for a long moment, then the girl, and finally her mother. Her mother looked at her with sadness knowing her daughter was feeling just as confused as her. She was working at the hospital when she'd seen Roy and the girl signing out. She couldn't believe it honestly. She confronted him, and he suggested that they talk somewhere private, and now here they are.
"Mama what's going on?" Lily asked her mother. She needed to get to the bottom of this and fast. Her mother took a deep breath before replying.
"Your father isn't dead Lily."
"I can see that..." Lily said reverting her attention back to her father. He stood up slowly approaching her. She didn't realize she was backing up until she felt herself hitting the wall. She felt the tears streaming down her face. It seemed so surreal to have him here. He was alive... And yet he never thought to tell her. He left her, shattered and heartbroken. She suddenly become furious.
"Where have you been? Why did you let us believe you were dead? I saw your body! You were dead, how is this even possible? Did you fake your own death, just so you wouldn't have to be with us?" she fired the questions one after the other. Not only was she angry for herself, she was also angry for her mother. Angela never moved on from her father. He was the love of her life, and she wouldn't allow herself to move on. Lily felt for her. This must have been like a punch in the gut to her mother.
Leroy winced like it actually pained him to know he hurt Lily, but Lily wasn't a fool. She knew men were famous for their acting skills, and she knew he surely couldn't have cared that much if he left her for 10 years.
"Have a seat babygirl so I can explain everything.. Please I'll explain everything." Roy said, motioning for Lily to sit down. She did so glancing at the girl again. She sat quietly the whole time. Lily wondered who the girl was to Leroy, but didn't get to think much more of it because Roy was speaking again.
"I'm not sure if you know, but I was a very big drug dealer when you were a kid. I was on my way to the top, and people were starting to notice that. Word started getting around that I was moving up in the ranks, and the biggest kingpin out at the time didn't like that very much. Long story short, He put a hit out on my head. That didn't really phase me because as I said I was moving up. I had an army and I had the resources to retaliate. I started taking his men out to send a message out, but instead of going after me, he put a hit out on you and Kind." he paused glancing at the girl who Lily assumed was named Kind. She furrowed her eyebrows.
"Kind? Who is she to you?" Lily asked, though she had a feeling she knew the answer. Her father sighed.
"Kind is your half sister. I had an affair with her mother, and she was born a year after you were conceived." Roy said slowly. He loved his daughter, but he was ashamed of how she was brought into the world, knowing he had her on Angela.
Lily was stunned silent taking everything in. She looked at Kind again, really looking at her. They had a few similarities but not many. They were both dark skin, with the same eyes, and nose. Kind was slimmer than Lily, and shorter. She was gorgeous, her face angelic. She seemed nice enough and yet Lily hated her already. She had her father while Lily was left high and dry.
