Amara POV
After supper was eaten, and Jack had teased me enough to his entertainment about the hot bowl.
He had left me to take a nap.
It was quite generous of him to offer his room to me.
Probably took a 5 minute nap, but not that it mattered my brain kept me awake.
Questions floated in my head, my brain's gears going so fast.
There was so much to think about.
Like, Where was my dad?
No.
Not dad, I mean monster.
Was he coming for me?
But why come for me?
The scaring memories came back clouding my vision.
My mother's dead body dropping to the ground.
The evil grin on my fathers face, as he ridded of his problems.
I ground my teeth together at that image.
But what did ma know about him that she couldn't handle anymore?
Like jumping face first into water, a hard slap brought me back to reality.
My eyes opened wide, my face was pressed against the deep foresty green wall.
I sat up rubbing my forehead.
Ow.
Jack ran into the room.
"What was that noise?!" his eyes scanned for intruders. "Are you okay?"
What was I supposed to say?
Yeah no worries I just smacked my face against the wall.
That familiar sudden warmth covered my cheeks, I ducked my head and nodded.
"Last time I checked yes"
His worried expression vanished and a sudden calm replaced his earlier expression.
"Well okay, I'll just leave you alone again."
His hand moved for the door knob.
A sudden spark in my head told me to question him.
"Wait!" I called breathless.
My shoulder hurt bad.
"What? Are you ok!?" he moved to sit down.
Pulling my legs back I sat up against the wall.
"Im fine, I just need answers."
His eyes betrayed his calm face.
A sudden urge to escape my questions played like a book in his eyes.
"O.. ok" Placing his hands in his lap he turned to face me.
"Where am I?"
He scratched his head. "Pittsburg, but why does that matter."
I groaned, it was too soon to tell anyone what happened.
Clenching my hands I tried to push away the bad memories that played like a movie over and over in my head.
"are you ok? What did I say wrong?!"
I shook my head, and held up a hand to silence him.
"My father... I mean he's a monster."
