"So there isn't any other way?" asked Dery.

His mother made a denying gesture with her face.

"Then it can't be helped." Said Dery confident.

"Are you sure about that? They will never leave you alone!"

"You heard the Headmaster. Nothing can be done."

Dery made his way to this room.

"Oh wait! Wait!"

"What now?"

"Mr. Fisher called me earlier. The examination results had come. You can go and take them at his office later."

"That's great! I wonder if I got an A..."

Later that day, Dery went to his friend's house to meet up with him and go take the result papers. It was at that course that the two of them had met each other. Before him, Dery had never had any true best friends with whom he could share his secrets, his thoughts, his pain...

After he knocked at the door three times, a familiar-looking man around his 40' opened the door.

"How many times have I told you Dery? There's a bell button left to the door. You don't have to knock on the door."

"Good evening Mr. Ricci. I am sorry, it's just muscle memory. I'll try to remember it next time. Is Luke ready?"

"Yea, he's getting ready." He increased the tone in his last words so that he could hear him. "He will be coming any minute."

In a few moments, appeared a pale-skinned guy, around Dery's height. He had short black hair and wore a pair of black glasses, but what really moved him aside from others was his characteristic smile, where he would only laugh using the left side of his face, which would look to an outsider as a normal smirk.

"Hey Dery!" said Luca and stretched his hand.

"What's up man! It's been some time!" he also stretched his hand and they did their usual wrestler handshake followed by fist bump and a slight hug with their free hands.

"Return before 9 o'clock okay?" instructed Luca's father.

"Sure dad!"

The door was closed and they both left for Mr. Fisher's office.

"So, how you been doing?" Luca tried to open the conversation.

"Well, actually, not that great. But that's okay, really. It's better this way." answered Dery in simple fashion.

"Wait wut? How's better when you're not doing that great? Bro, I really doubt your common sense sometimes."

"Let me tell you. It's better to fall from the stairs as soon as you start, rather than later."

"As said by the pioneer of modern philosophy:" he made an introduction gesture with both his hands toward Dery, "Dery Carter!" Dery laughed.

"Luke, be serious now."

"Okay, tell me what happened."

On their way to Mr. Fisher's office, Dery told him everything that had happened that unusual Friday at school.

"Damn, bro! They fooled you!"

"Obviously."

"If only I could get my hands on that Fern bastard, I would teach him some manners."

"You won't accomplish anything by beating him."

"I don't want to hear that coming from you!" And Dery laughed again.
