Jo was given blood to be healed by Rebekah after Jo had been beaten and abused till the point of near death. Bek healed her then took her to a nearby house where her husband eventually ended up killing her there to finish the job. He had no idea that doing so would mean his end to life, Jo was given guidance by Rebekah then she went on a ripper spree, her first kill being that of her husband, this spree lasted a decade and a half. She is also very hated by every vampire she crosses paths with except of course for Rebekah. Though she hasn't seen her friend in years seeing as she was and still is daggered by Klaus.
