Speed walking to the gym, I tripped on flat pavement, managing to catch myself.

"Walk properly you klutz!" I degraded at myself.

Arriving at the gym, no jock were present besides Ted, who was resting on the bench where I wait for him after track practice. His 'roid buddies were probably at the football field or by the main building. Ted's head was faced down in a sorrow manner. He seemed so gloomy, a rain cloud could literally hover above him.

"Hey." I greeted him casually, cautiously strolling towards him.

He jumped at the random sound of my voice. Realizing it was me, he scoffed and gazed back down.

"Come on. You're not gonna be like that the whole night, right? Talk to me." I said, sitting on the empty space next to him.

Placing my hand on his shoulder, he harshly shoved it away. I groaned at the small pain on my wrist, he ignored it and sighed.

"Why were you with Gary, (Y/N)? I thought you belonged to me?"

I scowled at him in response. I furiously stood up and crossed my arms.

"Oh, I'm soo sorry, Ted. I didn't know spending time with a friend was bad! Aren't you being a little dramatic here?" I fired back, hoping to knock some sense into the jock's brain.

He sat up and moved towards me, too close to where I felt his heated breath on my nose.

"Listen to me, don't even think about talking to a guy that ain't me, alright? You're with me, so you don't have to. Got it?"

My mouth dropped open at his mindset. Who does he think he is? Telling me what to do and what not? The insecurity is so obviously visible.

"Um, I'm not your puppet Ted! You don't own me, so why are you trying to control what I can or can't do?! We're not even a serious thing!" I basically yelled at this point. Ted remained quiet.

We haven't been together for a week and he's showing his true colors. Hell, we're not even together in general. Frankly, I'd say it's a good thing.

"You know what? I'd rather be with that psycho than your toxic ass." I added shortly.

Without warning, he slapped my face. The contact was powerful enough to descend me to the concrete ground. I cupped my cheek as it grew a stinging sensation.

Quickly realizing what he had done, Ted rushed to my aid and studied my brightly red face. Looking up was his probably fake worried stare.

"Oh my god... I'm so sorry babe... I-I didn't mean to-"

I pushed him away and easily got up right after, still rubbing my burning cheek.

"I-I'm so sorr-"

Ted tried to hug me but I shoved him away again. He anxiously scratched the back of his head while I glared at him in the faint darkness.

"I'm leaving. Goodbye, Ted."

And from there, I turned around and left without another word. He called after me but I ignored him.

Stopping after the fountain where a bunch of students were present, I texted Gary.

Me: yo, you still there? i'm comin rn.
