I watched her little hands waving in the air, her little pink t-shirt pulled so high I could her see her tiny white back.

"Papa! Papa! Papa! Papa!"

I could feel the lump at the back of my throat, the tears welling in my eyes. She didn't really know what she was cheering for, why the crowds of people were yelling . I could feel the heat of the circuit, the knot in my stomach that I always get when I'm watching a race. This one was different. The end would be different.

"And he's done it! Alexander Metveyev has won his first ever race in Formula 1! We haven't had to wait long for this! "

"He's done it, kroshka, daddy's won," I whispered in her ear. She'd stopped chanting now, her hands covering her ears to block out the roar of the crowd. "He's done it."
