Lauren watched the sunset with envy, remembering the past few months. She had never spoken of the reason for her misfortune to a person who was not from this castle.
The common people knew nothing about the murder of their prince and princess and thought that they had been sent far from this kingdom, to another country to live with family. And now she had told Camila the truth the day before. What was is about this commoner who made her tell her everything? Who was pushing her to drop all her guards?
"Are you all right, miss?" Lauren had jumped at the sound of that voice by her side and brought her hand to her chest as she turned to a Camila very proud of herself, leaning against the balcony gates.
She had been so lost in thought that she hadn't heard the young woman climb the wall. "You scared me, Camila!" She exclaimed which made Camila laugh.
"It was worth it." Camila laughed and Lauren fell a little more in love with this sound. "You are lucky that I like you." Lauren mumbled before turning to turn her attention to the sunset.
After a short silence, Camila continued: "It's always my favorite moment of the day." "Why that?" Lauren asked. "If you look east, you can see the moon across the horizon." Camila pointed to the sky while speaking and following her finger. Lauren saw indeed the moon which gradually showed its presence. "This is one of the rare times when the sun and the moon share the sky and thus their love." "So you're a romantic." Lauren said more than she questioned her.
Desperately, Camila had added with a smile while jumping over the balcony gates to stand beside the princess. "And here she is finally on my balcony." Lauren smiled and Camila could only do it in return as if her smile was contagious.
Looking up at the sky, Camila's eyes filled with sadness as she began to speak: "My mother and father were just commoners. They were farmers in another kingdom and supplied the castle with their meats and vegetables. And my little sister, Sofia ... She meant the world to me. I would have done anything to see her smile, to protect her."
Lauren admired Camila's profile as she spoke. The definition of her chin, the glint of sadness in her eyes and that lock of hair that couldn't stay in place. It was an absolute wonder to watch.
"As I grew up I discovered some ... Differences between the children of other commoners and myself. And one day, when I was seventeen, my parents saw me with another woman in my bed."
Lauren's eyes opened wide at the revelation of the brunette. Did her little thief also have a craze for women? Was it possible that Camila had feelings for Lauren just like her? Lauren's mind was full of questions while Camila just looked at her, smiling nervously.
"They told me that they did not want to have ... Abomination under their roof so they kicked me out. Just like that, without having time to say goodbye to Sofia, nothing. Just my clothes on my back and my eyes to cry."
Lauren had wrapped her arm around the thief's shoulders, pulling her closer to her to offer her some comfort. Camila let herself go in the touch of the princess. "I found myself at the edge of your kingdom and that's where Dinah found me. I have stayed with her ever since."
"I hope you know your parents are barbarians." Lauren she said after a certain silence. Camila turned to face her and wrinkled her eyebrows in confusion inviting the princess to continue.
"To dishonor a person because of who they want, who they love, it's horrible. Her personality, her passions, her heart ... All this dishonoring because of the person who is in bed, it should be a crime." A small smile appeared on Camila's face as she listened to the pretty princess talking passionately about what she believed.
