Rohan had meant to start the day off strong by continuing the page he had started to draft, but he found that he didn't feel the same energy to work today. Something was amiss, all of the dedication he had the days prior seemed to have vanished overnight. He played with the pen he had been grasping by clicking it over and over, but the mundane clicking noise didn't help his case. He didn't want to admit it to himself, but he had a case of artist block. Morioh was the perfect place to gather material, but he wasn't sure where to really look for that material. He could always use Heaven's door on people and that was good for characters, but what about all the other little details? He started to feel that he had been relying too much on his stand's ability for material as well as the books he had accumulated and he was starting to lose shelf space anyhow. He had been through some strange experiences in Morioh already, but he had already worked on tons of manga ideas in settings like Morioh, he couldn't possibly rely on Morioh for every single idea. If he was to make different mangas, he wanted new kinds of realistic settings, but just reading about it wouldn't give him the kind of ideas to start writing and drawing a story in a setting he only just read about. It was time for a change of scenery, perhaps that would nip his artist block at the bud before it became worse.
Rohan decided to take a walk to get some fresh air. With him he brought only a map of the local area and began on his hunt for material. Rohan began to walk along a dirt road which eventually lead to a rice field, but it wasn't the kind of scenery he was keen on writing about so he instead decided to go to the Morioh harbor where he thought he might see something more interesting. He walks there not expecting any ships to be present since it wasn't the season for tourism and only a few small boats could be seen from a distance as he approached. He takes a small look around and was about to leave when he hears an extremely loud noise. It was a ships horn, and a decently sized one at that. It approached slowly and Rohan eagerly awaited wondering where it was headed after as well as what kind of people would be coming off of the boat. It eases it's way near the docking bay and Rohan tries to get a glimpse of the passengers, but none came out. This is rather lackluster , thought Rohan who was about to give up on his little outing, but before he could turn away to walk home, he heard the sound of chatter and steps from behind. He turns around sharply feeling a crowd of people bump into his side which made him want to say something, but the growing crowd of people and their constant talking made it impossible to say anything that wasn't a yell and Rohan didn't feel like wasting his breath on deaf ears so he merely followed the crowd hoping to see what they were all excited about. The intensity of this crowd was overwhelming to say the least and reminded him of a busy street in Tokyo, but if something really interesting was going on, it would be worth it in his eyes.
Rohan blended in with the group of people and boarded onto the ship which seemed a bit too easy. There didn't seem to be a ticket system and no one aboard was wearing any cruise wristbands either not that this ship looked to be much of a cruise so the last part made sense, but why was he able to board so effortlessly? Perhaps I'll talk a bit with the passengers, Rohan thought and walked across the ship floor to a group of passengers trying to act natural, he didn't want to let anyone know he wasn't supposed to be on board so he had to play it safe. He approached on passenger.
" So when do you think we'll get there?" Rohan asks trying to sound as polite as possible.
" I dunno kid, im tryin to smoke here, we will get to open sea when we get there" the passengers says as a puff of smoke comes out of their nose. Rohan grimaces from the smell, but in his mind he was glad to have new material for a character, he didn't have that kind of character yet. Something bothered Rohan about what the passenger said though, what did they mean by open sea? Why would they need to wait to get to the open ocean, what were they waiting for? Now that he thought about it, something was definitely amiss here and it was on the tip of his tongue, but he just couldn't retrieve it from his memory. He began to ponder the question and walked past the eager crowd a few times. Suddenly he smiled and his eyes lit up with joy.
Of course! he thought, This is probably some illegal casino ship filled with illegal games! His though continued and he rushed to the inside area of the ship which was filled to the brim with slot machines and extravagant chandeliers above head, but of course there were tables for all of the illegal gambling that wasn't allowed in japan. He wasn't here to gamble, but he would probably be around so many interesting people and he couldn't pass up the idea of so much new material in one place. He let the illegal gambling ship take him wherever it was going and he began to write and sketch ferociously on his sketchpad. What had began as a day which he presumed to have no interest in drawing had quickly became another successful day for Rohan, but he let the might take him wherever the ship did and he had a little bit of fun here and there that he didn't realize the gambling had already ceased for the night. He took a little rest at an empty gambling table and kept nodding off repeatedly. When he finally came to, it was the morning and the ship was still at sea.
Something was terribly wrong here. It shouldn't have taken this long to get back to Morioh harbor from international and open waters so why was the ship still sailing surrounded only by water? What was going on here? Now that he had a look around, there were cabins! Perhaps this was a little more than just a nightly gambling spree. He had no choice but to play along, many of the people aboard seemed to be the sketchy type and he wouldn't be surprised i they had a plank, but it was a funny idea he thought. He didn't want to seem like an outsider so he went into an empty room and lied down. He was a bit surprised by all of this, but it also was kind of exciting so he was able to sleep ok thinking they wouldn't be too far from Morioh when they finally docked, a ship like this didn't seem to be for long distances in his eyes. It looked too aged, but he liked it so he decided to sketch as much of it as possible.
Rohan closes his eyes and finally drifts to sleep knowing his casino journey would end tomorrow.
When Rohan wakes, he hears the sound of chatter and seagulls. He stretches and finally gets up from his cot. Smiling, he walks out of the cabin with ease and follows the guests off of the ship. Rohan fixes his shirt and puts away his sketches from the night prior. Finally, he looks at the scenery below him, but something seemed a bit off. It was extraordinarily hot and he could see palm trees and tall skyscrapers. Many different languages were being spoken and it was way too sandy to be Morioh. The illegal ship he was on had docked in what seemed to be a somewhat private spot and he could see boxes of oranges being boarded onto a ship nearby. He read the labels on the side of the boxes.
"Florida..oranges" Rohan said to himself as he read it.
"Florida oranges?!" he said a bit louder and he looked around the urban area seeing a car with a Florida license plate as well as a a crappy nick nack store with many other Florida items in the window and a little keychain display by the entrance.
Rohan looked around in disbelief.
"NANIIIIIIIIIII?!"
He was now in Florida USA. All Rohan could do now was stare blankly in disbelief.
