I looked at him as tears started weld in my eyes, grabbing his hand, I placed his palm to my cheek, as the waterworks start to fall from my glossy eyes.
"Sing to me," I heard him whisper right beside me, "I want to hear your voice, before I sleep."
I nodded softly at him, tightening my grip on his hand on my face, "What song do you want?"
He smiled dearly at me, "The one you always sang.."
Taking in a deep breath, I started,
"You are the night dear, as I lay sleeping...
I dreamt I held you.. In my arms..."
His smile started to reach his dry cheeks as my voice echoed in the white room, he closed his eyes as he continued listening to me sing.
"When I awoke dear, I was mistaken...
So I hang my head and I.. cried..."
As I reached the chorus of the song, I felt the warmth from his palm was starting to fade away. My vision was blurred as a river of tears started to fall from my face.
"You are my sunshine..
My only sunshine..
You make me happy,
When skies are gray..."
I hear the beeps of thea heart monitor slowing down, and my heart ached as I continues to sing.
"You never know dear...
How much I love you,"
My singing came to a halt, when I finally heard the noise that I dreaded. A long continuous beep was all I heard, along with my loud cries. His hand fell from my face and to the white matress of the hospital bed, I caressed his cheek and kissed it. Hugging his large figure, hoping it was all just a nightmare, but it wasn't.
Taking in one long breath as I hugged the love of my life, I ended.
"Please don't take, my sunshine away......"
