It was late in the evening when Mrs. Adams was making dinner and Charlie was the couch watching TV. He looked at his phone and saw that he had gotten a text from his friend group chat
Luke -Hey what's up
Stella - Watching Tv
Sophia - I'm babysitting my sister for an hour.
Lucy - Sounds boring
Sophia - You're boring
Charlie - Just waiting for dinner. What about you?
Luke - Not much, I was wondering if you guys wanted to come over and have a sleepover.
Charlie - Right now?
Luke - Yeah, my parents said it was okay.
Charlie - I will have to ask.
Charlie puts down his phone and shuts the TV off. He walks to the kitchen and asks his grandma, " Hey grandma, can I have a sleepover at Lukes tonight?" She sets his plate in front of him and says, " I guess, but you need to go after dinner before it gets dark." He smiles at his Grandma and begins to eat. A few moments later he takes his plate to the sink at washes it.
Charlie - I'm gonna go pack for Luke's.
Mrs. Adams - Okay sweetie
Charlie walks in his room and sees that some of his stuff was on the ground and his desk drawers were open. With a confused look on his face he walks to the end of the hallway and says...
Charlie - Grandma, did you get into my stuff?
Mrs. Adams - No
He grabs his phone from the couch and texts the group chat
Charlie - I can come, I'll be over in a few.
He picks up his stuff from the floor and puts it away. Then he begins to pack his bag. He looks over and sees someone running in his yard. He opens the window and says
Charlie - Hello, Is anyone there?
No one answers so he shuts the window and finishes packing. He puts his phone in his pocket and his knife in the other. He walks to the kitchen and gives his grandma a hug. And then grabs a flashlight and walks to the front door to put his shoes on.
Charlie - Bye grandma, I'm heading out now.
Mrs. Adams - Okay, be safe. Text me when you get there.
Charlie - Okay
He shuts the door and heads to Luke's. He grabs his phone and texts, Luke.
Charlie - I'm heading over now
Luke - Okay
Stella - Can you come pick me up Charlie?
Charlie - Yeah sure
Charlie puts his phone back in his pocket and walks to Stella's house.
He finally gets there and knocks on the door. Stella's dad answers the door and says, " Can I help you?"
Charlie - Is Stella ready, she asked me to pick her up for the sleepover?
Ron - Oh right, hold on
Ron walks to the hallway and says, "Stella your friend is here."
Stella runs to the front door picks up her shoes and shuts the front door.
Charlie - Aren't you gonna put your shoes on?
Stella - No, I think there was someone in my room.
Charlie - Me too, all my drawers were open and everything was on the ground. I saw someone in my yard but when I opened the window they were gone.
They continued to walk quietly when they heard a rustling noise coming from a bush and then a shadow running across the street.
Stella - Run!
They began running and after a few seconds they reached Luke's front door. They knocked and waited for someone to answer. Sophia answered the door so they went in, Charlie took his shoes off and texted his grandma to let her know he was at Luke's . Charlie, Stella, and Sophia ran upstairs where everyone else was.
