Dear Mr. Yiu,
Alright, so I'm supposed to write a letter convincing you that I deserve to go to the University of Alberta on a field trip attending WISEST: Women in Scholarship, Engineering, Science & Technology. Challenge accepted.
I know I've been on a vacation for a LONG while, which now might not be the right time to point out, but I think this will somewhat help me catch up, maybe even exceed. You see, technology and science have been an interest of mine; maybe not one of the biggest interest, but certainly one of them.
My dad works with technology and I love to help him whenever I can. It’s so much fun seeing the inside of computers and all!
Science, now that is something I'd like to understand more. Chemicals, gasses, experiments, maybe even explosions (as long as they aren't fatal). Besides, this is supposed to encourage girls into turning science into a career so I thought, “Why not? As of now, I don't have any jobs I'm interested in, other than a writer or an architect.”
Now, I’m not going to leave you thinking that I want to go here only for the learning because I’m not. This field trip isn't just for the learning. It's about a one-time experience, and I plan to be one of the four to be given the privilege to experience it. Besides, who doesn't like to try new things? From the preview of what you showed us, it looks like a whole ton of fun! There were so many girls there too; I think I'd even make some new friends!
So, if you don't mind, I'd like to be able to go to the University of Alberta to attend the WISEST. Thank you.
Your favourite (?) student,
Angela Millan
