"The world is unfair, isn't it?"
L/n Y/n, an S-Class Hunter. Specifically, an Assassin type.
Sung Jin-woo just looked at her with an eyebrow raised. Just a moment ago, they were hanging out as friends, and now, she suddenly brings up a rather depressing topic?
The two were at a playground, sitting on the swings, acting as if they weren't adults. "The strong devours the weak and the weak can't do nothing but let the strong do the act," you sighed as you looked at the sky, swinging like the little kid that you are. "Times like these.. makes me want to jump in front of a moving train."
"Y/n!" And that seems to be the last straw for Jin-woo. His long hair followed his movements awhile ago, yet it all came to a halt once he heard those words once again coming out of your mouth. "What? Can't blame me. The world is a cruel place to live in!" You chuchled afterwards, hoping to lighten up the mood that you are the cause of it changing in the first place.
Silence..
.
.
"Y/n?" He calls.
"Yes?" You answered, your swinging coming to an end. "Why is someone like you with someone like me?" He asked, and you could only furrow your brows at his choice of words. "What do you mean? Ah- wait, no, I get the gist of what you're saying," you paused for a moment.
"Jin-woo," you stood up, walking towards where he was at before crouching low in front of him. "Yes, you may be the alleged 'World's Weakest', but I don't really give a fucking damn," you placed your hands on his cheeks, cupping them. "The weak may be devoured, but I'd be killed before I let anything happen to you!" And thus, you pinched his cheeks.
"Sorry since I'm not great at giving advices, but I don't think you're weak. Just a late bloomer!" And you stopped assaulting the poor boy before finally standing up, patting his head afterwards. "I don't even know if I'll even bloom at this rate.." He mumbled, not taking into consideration that your sense of hearing is superior than those of a normal human's. Plus, he didn't even take notice of your PSA's!
"Ugh," you groaned. "Stop being depressed, that's my job."
And laughter soon ensued.
Maybe he shouldn't be too skeptic after all.
He knew that you wouldn't leave him..
That's what you said years ago, so why?
Why was he still even thinking of that incident from years ago? From the playground that you two last met.. If he knew that that'd be the last day he'd see you, maybe then, he would've mustered up the courage to finally say that he appreciates you.. That he..-
He wasn't the same Jin-woo from the past.. The one that you'd always protect, the one that you'd always tease for being so frail.. Though if there would be one thing that he would miss from his past, that would be..
"Boo!" And with you hanging upside down from the tree you were in, using your legs to support yourself, a grin was on your face. His mouth was left agape, unable to process the current situation. "Haha! I truly got you, didn't I? I knew I'd find you here." You landed on the ground, no thud heard from your feet making contact with it.
You still looked the same.. Though if he'd point out one thing that changed, that is your aura. You seem much more intimidating, much stronger, and much more capable of things than before- if that was even possible. However, his thoughts became jumbled once more the moment he realized that this was all too real, that this wasn't just a figment of his imagination.
"Oh! You look different. Your eyes have the fire in them now and I like it!" You snapped your fingers once you pinpointed out the subtle things that changed from the past years you haven't seen him. Walking closer, closer,
a pat on the head, just like what you always gave him.
"I missed you, Jin- umpf!" And only a shocked gasp left your lips once he pulled you in for a hug. However, the surprise soon left, and you could only smile before enveloping your arms around him, acting like the bigger spoon even though he has the bigger frame.
His hug held desperation, as if this situation would be the same as last time, that you'd leave without a trace. He held you so tight, yet so gentle thatit was as if he'd break you just by the slightest of tough. "Perhaps, you didn't change at all," your hand snaked up to his hair, toying with it for a bit. Until, he leaned his head on your shoulder, making the most of his time as he hugged the life out of you in public.
Well, you couldn't really call him out for it. You did leave without informing him of your absence, and you kinda ghosted him, well, a version for friends kind of ghosting- It was a good thing that there were no kids there, minus the grown-ups that looked at you two, and you could just imagine the sly smile on their faces, obviously thinking that you two were a couple.
"You having fun there, bud?" You lightly laughed once you heard him sigh, almost indicating that he didn't want to leave in this position. "I missed you," three words yet you can feel the emotions behind it. "So did I," you replied. And you did, you really did. Whilst spent your time on your endeavours, your mind constantly wanders back to the friend that you left behind. You wondered, if you had never left, would the bond of you two grow stronger? Would you have been there to watch him develop into the person that he is now? Nevertheless, that was all in the past, and you couldn't rewind time so you wouldn't mull on things like that.
"Wouldn't you invite me to your home? I miss Jin-ah as well," you said to him, in hopes of lightening up the mood. Oh, you weren't really cut out for that.
However, instead of nodding like you thought he would do, he held on to your wrist, his head hung low.
"It's been so long since I've seen you.. You have a lot of things to tell and-
I want to be selfish just this one time."
Ah, how cute. He didn't really change at all.
