Monday morning, Aurora came into the balcony acting like everything was normal. She wanted to scream and beg Phoenix to save her from the trauma, the nightmares she fought hard to purge. But she can't tell him that, she can't let him in. So she hid it behind her mask, with a smile sharing a smile with Phoenix who also stood in his balcony. Guild and shame filled in her chest he smiled back at her. It took all the might she had not to knock on his door and ask for his forgiveness. The dark circles under both their eyes were tokens of their inner battle as they looked ahead toward the sun, determination shone in their eyes, they were gonna do what they had to do for each other and their own good... and safety
At the parking lot, Aurora stopped dead in her tracks to see Phoenix and Ricky leaning on either side of her car. She knew they had football practice today, so she practically tip-toed her way to her car. She had thought of even skipping college today but it would mean staying alone.
Ricky cancelled today's practice so they could go with Aurora, security was vigilant but William was still out there. Neither Phoenix nor Ricky wanted to take any chances.
"What. You two are coming with me." She asked, trying to hide the pepper spray she had in her hand that Phoenix and Ricky had seen. As she fumbled, her hands pressed on the car keys, unlocking the door for both of them to climb inside.
"It's been long since I saw a pedestrian overtake me." Ricky taunted as she started the car.
"I saw an old lady with a stick overtake us the other night." Phoenix joined him and Aurora rolled her eyes. They kept doing that on the way but Aurora didn't move her eyes from the road.
"I wanted to miss the first period anyway it's a boring subject." they pointed to seeing a smaller crowd on the campus as many were on their way to the classes.
"Shut up, will you." Aurora hurried to join Ben and Olivia who were near the tree waiting for her.
"Hey, Adam," Aurora said but Adam rolled his eyes and then left after kissing Ben's cheek.
"Don't mind him Cheerie. it's his time of the month."
They went to the classroom, with Phoenix and Ricky following Aurora like a shadow. Ricky told Ben about the incident during classes, and they decided it was time for an intervention.
❄❄❄
In a typical Ben and Olivia fashion they linked their hands with Aurora and dragged her to an empty classroom, Phoenix noticed that she was not wearing her usual block heels but black running shoes, clearly to run away from William. After that, he didn't feel any regret for doing this as he clicked the lock in place and turned to face her as the others waited for him to join.
