It's 10:30 now, meaning time for PE. Honestly, it felt good to run around the track and clear my head. I've made a mess for myself now that I jumped the gun and tried to play cupid. I've decided I'm just going to find the girl naturally. She's gonna have to come to me.
Suddenly, like clockwork, she did, literally! She was running the track in the opposite direction but the details of it don't matter. I watched as she passed me by. She's very attractive but she's lacking in the ass department if I'm being picky. I speed up so I can see more of her. This time I notice a little more. She has freckles and has almost no muscle to her.
I stand still and lean against the wall, pretending to be looking out but I have my eyes focused on her. Her third lap approaches and her strides become more confident with each step. It almost looks too easy for her... until it doesn't anymore. She trips on one of her feet and falls headfirst into the track.
I jump off the wall and take a step forward. Everyone stops what they are doing, some people are laughing. Her body is just laying there and she curls up into a ball very slowly. Someone finally gets the coach and he jogs over to her. "Are you okay?" he asks repeatedly but no answer.
Finally, she lifts her head up and I see some scratches on her arm and a cut on her forehead. "What hurts?" Coach Will asks but again she doesn't respond. "Okay we're gonna get you to the nurse, okay?" he says with his hand on her shoulder. "Can someone take this young lady to the nurse please?" he asks. I hold my hand up and jog up to them. "I'll take her coach," I say. She rests her arm around my neck and we slowly walk to the nurse.
"Are you okay, for real though?" I ask her genuinely. "Everyone saw that. I'm never gonna be able to live that down" she says with a frown. "Hey don't feel too bad," I say trying to cheer her up. "I saw some guy fall down the bleachers and that was much funnier" she cuts me off, "So everyone was laughing... wow," she says clearly a little annoyed.
I try to recover but quickly I decide to stay silent. When we get to the nurse I tell her what happened and she tells her to sit on the bed. I sit in the little waiting area of the office and wait for her to get out. I scroll through a magazine to help pass the time. Suddenly she comes out the door with a cute bandaid on her forehead and one on her elbow.
Before I can speak she cuts me off, "Why are you still here?" she questions. "I wanted to wait for you," I say with a slightly defensive tone. "Well I'm not like that so you can walk back to the gym alone," she retorts not really showing any emotion. She walks out of the office and I follow behind her. "Not like what?" I ask. "A hoe," she fires back. "I never called you a hoe" I defend. What's wrong with this girl? She ignores me and keeps walking. "I was expecting a thank you, not this bullshit," I argue.
"Thanks," she replies dryly, still walking. "I was just trying to nice, damn what's wrong with you?" I say. I'm pissed off at this point. She stops walking and turns around, "Boys are never just nice... they always want something." This girl is fucking psycho. "You're acting like a bitch, all I did was help you. I don't want anything." I say. She takes a step towards me, "What did you just call me?" she asks. "I said you're acting like a bitch," I repeat, refusing to back down. She takes another step, "What, are you gonna hit me?" I taunt when suddenly she grabs my arm and pulls me into a closet.
"What are y-" I say but she grabs my face and kisses me. "You don't want anything?" she asks before continuing. Our faces glued to each other. Suddenly she stops and whispers in my ear, "That's too bad," and she takes her hands off me and opens the closet. I watch her walk out towards the gym leaving me bewildered.
I close the closet door and see a piece of paper trickle to the ground. I pick it up and see that it's her return slip from the nurse. I scan the paper for her name, Chelsea Whitley. I put the paper in my pocket and head back to class. On my way back I see Melanie coming out of the bathroom. "Hey," she greets. "You look happy," she says commenting on my giddy smile. "Melanie I'm so glad you told me to wait, this girl is much better," I tell her excitedly. "So I see you've met Jordan?" she asks me with a sly smile.
My smile fades and I ask her, "Who the hell is Jordan?"
