(Jordan's POV)
Just as the killer puts his hand on the door, Aurora's dad drops something in the kitchen making us all scream in terror. I thought I was about to die! "Oh my God Dad!" Aurora annoyedly exclaims but with a smile on her face. Chelsea is just staring at him, too blank to read. "Sorry, I- Oh Aurora I thought you were down here alone, I didn't know you invited guests" His eyes light up when he realizes who we are.
"No way... Chelsea, Jordan? Is that you??" I laugh and accept his invitation for a hug, Chelsea does also. He gives her a weird look after they embrace and making me wonder if he actually likes us. Yet another mental note for the night, the parents probably hate me.
Aurora pulls us away from him and instructs us to come upstairs with her. Chelsea and I grab our bags and head upstairs. My stomach churns at the thought of us awkwardly having nothing to talk about and going to bed early, but I shake those thoughts away trying to see the glass half full.
However, true to form, after we finish our initial small talk, we all take our spots and bury ourselves in our phones. Aurora notices our boredom and gets off her bed. "Let's play truth or dare," she suggests and Chelsea and I shrug and sit on the floor.
***********
"Truth or dare?" Chelsea asks Aurora and she nervously giggles. "Truth" she confidently picks. Chelsea laughs and asks, "What were you doing with Anthony when we got here?" she raises her eyebrows in amusement. Aurora looks down, "Nothing," the smile creeping on her face tells it all. I knew that already though, it's not like I'm dating him. I wish I could get him out my head.
"Mhmm" Chelsea teases and Aurora rolls her eyes, "We were just studying." Ha! Bullshit. "Whose turn is it now?" Aurora turns to me and smiles, "I believe it's yours ms ma'am." I shrug and fake yawn, "Bring it on."
"Truth or dare?" Should I pick truth? I have nothing to tell them, they'll probably force me to change it. There shouldn't be anything too bad to do in her house. "Dare." Aurora frowns saying I'm no fun but suddenly perks up at the thought of something. There goes my blood pressure. "I have something so good, wait maybe it's too good" Aurora grabs her mouth and ponders. "Just tell me," I say a little annoyed. Maybe you don't wanna know Jordan. "Ok, I dare you to send a picture of you in lingerie to Cole." What the fuck? "No, what the fuck? Why Cole? What the fuck Aurora."
"Why are you bitching, this is the game. Calm the hell down." Aurora scolds and I look at Chelsea for support. She looks around and shrugs, "I can't help you girl, this is the game..." I kiss my teeth and roll my eyes. Chelsea's slutty ass really didn't come in clutch this time.
"Of course you see no problem with this dare" I murmur under my breath and Chelsea scrunched her face. "What's that supposed to mean?" She questions dumbly. "Oh please Chelsea, save the acting for the next drama guy you want to screw." She sits up and looks at Aurora in disbelief, but Aurora just looks down. "You are kind of... active Chelsea," she replies in a low tone.
Chelsea stands up pointing at me, "Fuck you." She turns to Aurora and does the same, "And fuck you too." The guilt kicks in as soon as she exits the room. I turn to Aurora with a worried expression. "Should we go get her?" I ask timidly. "Let her cool off, you know how she gets when she's mad," Aurora says and goes back on her phone like nothing happened.
"How fucking typical of you to ignore everyone else's pain, as long as you're good, right?" I bark at her, finally saying what I've wanted to say for years. "I knew this was about Anthony, you're acting like I'm dating him or something. We're just friends Jordan." She stands up and I stand up with her. "This isn't just about Anthony, you've always done this ever since we were little. This was no surprise, just the last straw," I turn around to go get Chelsea, but stop when I hear her say something.
"I'm sorry," Aurora says simply. Somehow those 2 words made me feel more seen and heard than I've ever felt by her in our entire friendship. "What?" I turn back to face her.
"I'm sorry. I know I've been selfish with this one, and many others in the past. I don't know why boys choose me over you but they're fucking stupid. You're beautiful and kind and funny and everything else sugar and spice." We laugh and I hold back tears. I'm reminded why these are my best friends. They are truly the best.
"Thank you, so are you. I can't even find the words when it comes to how amazing you are. I don't know why but Anthony is under my skin, but he doesn't like me. He likes you and-" Aurora cuts me off and shakes her head.
"Hoes before bros. Always. If you want me to stop seeing him, just say the word." She said it so easily without even batting an eye. I love her too much to do that to her. "No, no I can't and won't ask you to do that. You guys are too cute... I'll get over it." She opens her mouth in protest but I don't let her finish.
"No really... I'm gonna go find Chelsea." I say and I close the door behind me.
I open my phone and check the time. All this emotional healing...
...and It's only 9:30.
