Miles had opted to stand outside of the Argent household instead of entering when he had gotten home for a multitude of reasons.
Firstly, he felt like he shouldn't even be allowed in. He had just betrayed every single hunter within the confines of the home by not only neglecting to tell them vital information about the supernatural world of Beacon Hills, but also going behind their backs and getting involved with the aforementioned world. How could he go inside and seek sanctuary from the very family he was so blatantly lying to?
Then there was the second, more pressing reason. Miles wanted to wait for his cousin to come home. After leaving Scott McCall's house, Allison had driven Lydia home in a hurry and Miles had left to come back to their house. He had known he would get back before her, but he was determined to wait up for the younger girl because he really, really, needed to have a conversation with her. He needed some answers quickly before he started regretting killing the werewolves that had attacked her earlier so much that he went to track them all back down and finish what he started.
Finally, headlights brightened the drive way. Miles leaned against his car with his arms tightly crossed as he waited for Allison to park next to him. Once she did, she got out of the car silently and stood in front of Miles. For a few moments, the cousins just stared at each other, Allison's eyes searching for some kind of warning of Miles was feeling from the expression on his face, but like usual she couldn't read him whatsoever.
"Have you told them?" Allison eventually asked, her eyes darting hesitantly to look at the front door.
Miles took a little too long to answer Allison and the girl was pretty sure her heart stopped beating as she waited for a response. Instead, he continued to stare not just at her but Allison was also pretty sure he could see right through her, so she didn't bother trying to put up any walls.
After what felt like years to Allison, Miles shook his head. "No, but I'm failing to find a reason not to tell our family that you've been running around with Scott and those other miscreants behind our families backs."
"Scott and I aren't supposed to be together, they can't know!" Allison pleaded in a hushed tone.
"So, what? You want me to just turn a blind eye to the fact that you have a werewolf boyfriend?" Miles demanded.
"Miles, you get that he's not just my boyfriend, right?" Allison responded. She stepped closer, trying to fully convey how important it was to her to get Miles to understand how she felt about Scott McCall.
