Jada had prepared Craig’s dinner by candlelight. He was sitting at the table stone-faced, not touching his vegetables or his blackened fish. She knew she could cook with the best of them. She’d cooked for him before. He looked as if somebody close to him had died. She eased behind him trying to give him a massage and he pushed her away.
“What’s wrong baby?” asked Jada.
Still no answer. He looked at her but didn’t say shit to her. She sat in the chair across from him and bit into her fish. Then she drank some of her sparkling water, but still he wasn’t saying anything to her. She wondered if his wife had found out about his affair. He stood and walked into the den. She followed him. The remote control was on the table. He grabbed it, turned the television on to ESPN and sat down, still stone-faced.
Finally, she said, “So you’re not going to tell me what the fuck is your problem?”
He glanced at her as if he wanted to say something, but he didn’t speak.
“Tell me your goddamned problem.”
He said nothing.
“What the fuck is your problem, Craig?”
Finally, he said, “You’re my fucking problem. You are.”
“And what is that supposed to mean.”
“It means, I want you out of here in the morning.”
“What?”
“You sold my goddamned car, Jada. You sold something that I gave you. How in the hell did you do me like this?”
She wanted to say something, but she couldn’t. Even though it wasn’t true since she hadn’t sold the car. She’d only signed it over to the attorney.
Jada bit down hard on her lip. Wondering how she was going to get out of this situation and wondering, how in the hell did Craig know so much?
THE END BYEEEEEEE I HOPE YOU LIKED IT
