CORDELIA SLOWLY FLIPPED THROUGH THE pages in her book as she sat by the window. She missed playing outside with the boys. It was now August, and the Losers' Club hadn't spent time together as a group for a few weeks—nearly a month.

When she was allowed outside, Cordelia spent most of her time with Richie, Ben, Beverly, and Stan. Richie usually tried to convince her to go to the arcade with him, but after an event that partook there, Richie didn't want to go back. The two then hung out in the barrens, usually having splash-wars in the cold water of the stream. Lia always won, but she thinks that he lets her.

There was also a time when Richie had come over to her house when Martha was at work. He thought that Lia's light blue room suited her, seeing as it was very old-fashioned. Glancing around at the light blue objects in her room, he asked what it was for.

"The ribbon in my hair is supposed to represent my innocence. My mother has made me wear it since I was a child." She walked over towards her bed where there was a small doll that had Cordelia's bright blue eyes and brown hair tied back with a blue ribbon. "My doll even has one, too."

Richie had let out a laugh at her explanation before grabbing the small doll. He tossed it in his hands a few times before giving Lia an evil grin.

"We should hang it from the ceiling," he suggested, a glimmer in his eyes. Cordelia nearly shrieked as she ripped the doll from his hands.

"Richard!" she scolded, placing the doll in her skirt drawer.

Throughout the summer, Granny Ruth and Cordelia would go to the library on specific days together where she would sit next to Ben. The two would read side-by-side, with the occasional whisper. Sometimes, if she was able to get away from Richie, her and Ben would walk through the park and talk. It was nice to talk to him; he was a very pleasant person to be around.

Beverly and Lia often spent time together, too. The two often walked together around the areas of Derry that Lia was allowed. They got ice cream together quite often, and Beverly liked to go to the Watson residence in order to introduce Lia to more music. After learning that Cordelia knew nothing after the sixties music-wise, she took it upon herself to arrange her favorite songs together so that the two could listen to music as they laid in Lia's bed together.
