The weather got progressively colder until thick, heavy flakes fell over the school. They covered the ground in fluffy layers. Seeing the first-years play in it reminded the older students what it was like to be carefree. The first Hogsmeade trip was approaching as well, heavily anticipated. The quartet, plus Fred and Hadley, were planning on going together. In the library one day, when everybody was studying, a thought crossed Maddy's mind.

"Hey, Dom. What if someone asks you to Hogsmeade? Are you going to say no, or give them a chance, or..."

"I don't know, I'm pretty sure I hate everybody here besides this table," She then raised her voice enough that the rest of the table could hear, and said, "But someone will definitely ask you to go with them! Oh, I wonder if Zabini will be one of them!"

"One of them? Merlin Dom, I'll be amazed if I get one! I'm too nice to say no, too. I don't want to go with anyone else."

"What are you talking about, Maddy? You're hot, funny, talented, and just generally amazing. Boys will be falling at your feet!" Hadley cut in.

"STOP, YOU GUYS ARE EMBARRASSING ME!" Maddy said, burying her face in her arms.

"Here, I have a solution!" James said, sounding very sarcastic, "Tate asks Dom to go, and I'll ask Maddy." He was unmistakably pissed.

"You would," Dominique said under her breath, earning a kick in the shin from Maddy.

Tate stood up, walked to Dom, bowed, and said, "Dominique Appoline Weasley, will you do me the honor of being my platonic date to Hogsmeade?" He then held out his hand to her.

She grinned and took it, saying, "Oh, all right then."

They then skipped around the table, arms linked, before sitting back down laughing.

James shook his head, slightly impressed by his friends' spontaneity. He then looked up across the table to the girl who was smiling at his cousin. When she turned back, their eyes locked.

"Mads, will you go to Hogsmeade with me?" He asked.

She approved. It was simple but sweet.

"Hmm, it's an extremely enticing offer," She murmured, biting her lip with feigned thought, "I'll have to think about it," At this point, she was trying extremely hard not to burst out laughing, "You know what, I'll get back to you soon, Potter."

"I try to help, and this is what I get."

James was barely heard, over everyone else cracking up. Madam Prince came over and told them if they weren't quiet, she would throw them out the window. They did their best to stop the giggles, and with a chorus of "sorry," and "Yes Madam," they got back to their work.

Classes went by, and homework was collected, and in no time, it was dinner. The kids all sat down at the Gryffindor table, and Maddy called Rose over to sit by her. She wanted to check how things were going and what she knew about how her brother.

"How has he been, Rosie? Is he doing okay?"

"You're brother is fine. He and Albus are doing well in their classes. He is a bit weird around me. Weirder than normal, no offense."

"None taken," Maddy replied, thinking back to all the crazy games they had made up as kids. He had also learned much of his vocabulary from her, as she loved to read.

Maddy looked over to the Slytherin table to see her brother, who waved enthusiastically. She grinned at him and waved just as crazily.

"Hey James, want to go say hi to our brothers?"

"I don't know. I'll get back to you soon," He said scornfully. He got up nonetheless, letting Maddy know he was half-joking.

They walked over to the Slytherin table, where their brothers were sitting.

"Hey, Scorp!" Maddy said, putting him in a playful headlock from behind. She loved her brother a lot, as he was her only companion growing up in Malfoy Manor. James was next to her, messing up Albus's hair and calling him a dweeb. They certainly had a very different relationship.

"Hello, sister of mine. How has school been for you? Is homework difficult?"

"No more than usual. You? I may or may not have already asked Rose, but I think I should check with you too."

"I'm fine, did Rose say anything about me?" He asked, a blush creeping up his pale face.

"No, wh- OH I GET IT! You like her?" Maddy said, whispering the last part. The thought of her brother having a crush on Rose was comical to her. They would be cute if the girl ever gave him a chance.

"Do NOT! I was just wondering if, in your conversation, she happened to mention anything that I might desire knowing."

"Should she have?" Maddy asked, teasing him.

"No, I-"

"Scorp, I'm messing with you, chill. I can see Potter Senior is done beating up Albus and is becoming a bit restless," She looked at James suggestively, hinting more than one way, "So I'm going to go. Goodbye, Scorpius, see you around Albus."

"Bye, Maddy," The pair said at the same time, before turning and arguing about Jinx rules.

"Thank you for waiting so patiently," Maddy said sarcastically. They made their way back to their table.

"You can never resist a dig, can you Mads?" He said, smiling.

"I don't know what you're talking about, Potter," A giggle tumbled from her lips.

They sat back down, and a few moments later, someone tapped her shoulder. She turned to see Zachary Zabini behind her. He wasn't looking shy or nervous at all. He knew he was attractive.

"Maddy, I think you're quite beautiful. Will you go to Hogsmeade with me?"

She could have died on the spot. Maddy barely knew the Slytherin boy, and he had the nerve to ask her out in front of all of her friends. Having people watching was a whole lot more pressure to say yes. She saw James with an unreadable expression, and suddenly, knew what to say.

"Uh, I'm really sorry, Zachary, but I'm already going with James. Thanks for asking, I'm sorry."

He looked like he couldn't believe she had said no. He grunted an, "it's fine," before trudging back to his table. The regular chatter of the hall resumed, and Maddy could feel her face heating.
