Vlad felt the grass move underneath him as he shifted slightly. He stared up into the canopies above him, blocking out the sun. He was greatful for the shade, it kept his skin from burning up. Vlad sighed as he shifted again, 'What was taking them so long? They should be here by now' He thought to himself.

A few moments passed before a slight rustling to Vlad's side signified the arrival of His company. He quickly propped himself up and smiled at his friends "Hey Lukas! Nice to see you, Arthur! What took you so long?" He asked.

"We didn't take that long, you just can't wait longer than two minutes!" Arthur spat back in his usual annoyed tone. Vlad just laughed as the other two sat down with him.

"Sorry if we took long, Arthur just got a bit carried away with a villager back at the market. I had to drag him away," lukas replied calmly, turning to face Vlad.

"That's his fault! He refused to try any of my wonderful cuisines, that pig!" He replied huffily, crossing his arms and scowling to himself.

"His fault? Pffff-Hahaha! That poor human, you could've killed him with your horrible cooking! It's a good thing Lukas stepped in and stopped you!" Vlad snickered at his now infuriated friend.

"You frog! You're lucky were friends or I would force my 'horrible cooking' down your throat," Arther growled before calming back down.

"Y'know, what's funny Arthur? Everyone in town is always saying you'd make a great Partner one day, but with an attitude like that and the quality of your food? I think they're mistaken!" Vlad snickered before moving swiftly to avoid a slap on the head from Arthur.

"Like you have room to speak! I doubt anyone would ever want to marry someone like you!" Arthur yelled, only to be met by more laughter from Vlad.

"Marriage, hmm. I wonder if i'll ever get married, I doubt it though," Lukas wondered aloud. Arthur and Vlad turned to face Lukas.

"Don't you think you'll fall in love eventually? I mean, it's bound to happen someday," Arthur inquired.

"Love isn't necessary for most people, it just seems inconvient to share your life with someone. I just don't see it ever happening to me," Lukas claimed, a hint of disinterest in his tone.

"Oh! Speaking of love, Vampires only fall in love once! Pretty strange, right? Apparantly it's either them or nobody from what I've been told," Vlad piped up, leaning forward "I wonder if i'll ever meet that person, can you imagine that? Love at first sight is kinda a stuipid curse,"

"You claim it's love at first sight, but is it a guarantee that the person loves you back instantly? What if they're a different species?" Lukas questioned, causing Vlad to cross his arms.

"The only way Vlad could ever get married is if they instantly loved him back, or else he's hopeless!" Arthur taunted at the pouting Vlad.

"You're so mean Arthur, don't you have a heart?" Vlad whined, leaning back and laying once more upon the grass. "But you have a point, I might be a hopeless case," Vlad sighed.

"Oh well, being alone is better than being stuck with someone who annoys the living daylights out of you. If I could cast a spell to prevent that from ever happening, I would." Lukas stated, tracing markings in the grass.

"Ughhh, but I don't want to be alone for all of eternity! I want to at least try to meet someone!" Vlad groaned, placing his hands on his stomach, "Immortality would be excruciating if I was alone forever."

"No need to fret, you'll have to deal with us for at least a few centuries." Lukas stated, reminding Vlad of common spellcaster knowledge.

"That's right, you're stuck with us for a long time!" Arthur announced.

"I guess you're right, with friends like you guys who needs a lover?" Vlad snickered again before hefting himself back up on his feet. He quickly picked up his long black cloak off of the forest floor and tied it around his shoulders, pulling the hood up to block out the sun and hide his fangs. "Well, i'm off to the market. I need to purchase some silk! See you guys later!" Vlad announced before dashing off with superhuman speed towards the market.

"I hope he doesn't get himself in trouble, you know how he can be with those silly tricks of his." Lukas wondered aloud to Arthur.

"I'm sure he'll be fine, we should probably get going too." Arthur stated before getting up himself and offerinf a hand to Lukas. Lukas accepted the offer and pulled himself up, "let's get going, shall we?" And with that the clearing in the forest was left unoccupied once again.
