Chapter 1

The wind was blowing strong against the oak tree in my front yard. I stared out the window, with a blanket covering my body. I shivered at the thought of having to be out there, especially with a global pandemic going on. Covid-19 was no joke.

I sighed and moved away from the window, deciding that a hot shower would relax my nerves. I walk towards my bathroom and hop into the shower, already loving how the hot, steamy water was hitting my body. After a little while, I decided to get out and dry myself. After freshening up, I stepped out of the washroom and headed towards the kitchen to make myself some dinner, seeing as it was already 7 pm.  As I was waiting for the oven to heat up, I heard a loud bang on my door. I jumped back startled. I stared at the door for a bit just hoping it was a branch hitting it due to the wind. As I started turning back around I heard another BANG.

My eyes wide, I search for a weapon of some sort to help defend myself if needed. I slowly start to approach the door with a knife in hand, I look through the peephole to see a body. A body laying on my porch, looking as if the man laying there was dead.

I drop the knife and quickly open the door, I bend down to see if the man laying there was still breathing. Letting out a sigh of relief feeling his heartbeat, I quickly put my arms under his and try to drag him into my house. I close the door and turn back to look at the strange man lying in the middle of my hallway. I couldn't lie, he was attractive.

I run into the living room and grab a blanket to wrap him around, while also grabbing some water. I sit next to his body as I flick some water onto his face and while also slightly slapping it to wake him up. After a couple of minutes, his eyes start to slowly open. Making eye contact with the bluest, most beautiful eyes I've ever seen.

"Uh.. are you okay?" I ask, worry in my voice.

"Where am I?" He asked, slowly trying to sit up.

"well uh, my name is Mina and you somehow ended up on my porch knocked out, so I brought you in to see if you're alright", I say slowly.

He nods his head and sits up straight, leaning against the wall behind him.

"I'm sorry for causing you trouble, I'm not sure what happened", he said, putting a hand on his head while looking down.

"It's okay", I say softly, "your welcome to stay and figure out what's going on with you, did you want me to drive you to the hospital maybe?"

His eyes go wide as he looks at me, "no! no, that's fine, I don't need to go to the hospital".

I nod my head and start to get up from the floor.

"Well I was making myself some dinner, your welcome to take a shower and I can make you some too if you'd like?"

"Oh, uh sure, thank you.. seriously", he says with a small smile.

"I'm Niall by the way", he says.

I nod my head and smile, "well the bathroom is over there, I can put your clothes in the laundry if you'd like and I probably have one my dad's old clothes around here somewhere."

He nods his head and smiles back at me while making his way to the bathroom, I instruct him to just put his clothes outside the bathroom door and I would take them while replacing them with clean clothes.

After dealing with that, I head back to the kitchen and decide to make some pasta. As I make the pasta the radio plays softly beside me. As I stir the sauce in the pan, the radio suddenly makes an announcement I was not expecting.

"As the pandemic panic increases, Covid-19 is rapidly spreading. The government has now stated that everyone is to be locked into their homes and are not allowed to leave unless it is essential. Repeat, Do Not Leave Your Homes!"

My eyes go wide, I sigh, this was getting crazy. I continue to make the pasta, as I finish it up I hear the bathroom door creak open, Niall appearing in some sweats and t-shirt I had left out for him. I tell him to take a seat at the counter while I finish up the pasta. I serve us both some pasta, sitting down beside him, both of us digging in.

"So the government has announced that no one can leave their homes now because of the pandemic", I chuckle, continuing to eat.

Nialls eyes go wide, as he stops eating.

"What's wrong?" I ask him, he looks up at me with a look of stress written all over his face.

"I'm not sure if I have a home to go back to"
