Every law student has their own ways of facing law school's hard realities. To make it to the end peacefully and not distracted, one might be living his or her life alone. For smoother law school days, one might be building his or her connections. To have someone who sustain, to run into during "hell days" and to survive with, they might need a circle of friends.
Law school is intense! You will miss out life events a lot when you're engaged into it. You'll memorize, you'll digest, and maybe bluff a lot. Recitations will drain you until your last functioning brain cells. Cold calls, shuffling of index cards and shame on not knowing the right answers and panicking on what will be the right words to say as you're being called. Quick pulse, mini heart attack and fear will surely rise in your system. Assholes are everywhere and sexist are just around the corners. So tell me, would you dare getting yourself into it?
CONTROL THE GAME is the fourth installment of the Game Series written by Beeyotch, a law student. This story will revolve, not just rotate, on the struggles of law students that eventually dealt with criminal law procedures thingy. A story about great and sacrificial love, strong friendship, family, law school and court, a close to reality - so let's get going and unfold their story!
One dinner, small incident and somehow small favor - Iñigo was literally dragged by this woman who he has an eenie-teeny crush, Kitty in a dinner. That's where he sort of formally met Cha. They got in to each other's nerves, him being hit in the head, her being requested to modify the truth, then boom, Iñigo, everyone, has his eyes glued to Cha!
Lucky is Cha for having a man who's willing to do everything for her - replaced her bloody codal with a new, highlighted and noted on, a replicate of her old one. Someone who introduced her now favorite Pares. Who triggered her independence -leaving their home after being caught with Iñigo. She got her ball of sunshine, her bar buddy - who occasionally fulfilled her curiosity and sort of sexual desires, her cook, human alarm clock, and her flawed, endearing and real Iñigo.
Unfortunately, he got his Cha! Hahaha kidding aside, he got the ever doubtful Charisse Faith, who seemed to be always in control. Who shows toughness in every situation she's in. He got someone who's a stickler to rules, someone who's naturally rude and who always doesn't care. He met the person who gave direction to his life, his purpose, his reason to live and strive for the best. He found his savior when he seemed drowning in a sea of evilness where money's the greatest enemy. He found a woman who tend to confuse him with their label, who's good at playing hide and seek and who always take two steps backwards as he move a step forward. Someone who knows his soft spot and made him her HUMAN BOOMERANG.
SHE WORKS, HE REVIEW. Supportive housemate at its finest! Turned out Iñigo being the BAR EXAM's TOP 1. Let me enclose it with his speech that made my heart melt:
"This won't be possible without my . . . my partner. Some may say that it's because of my hard work, but we both know that you're really the reason why I'm here. Thank you for taking care of me. Thank you for the late-night reviews. Thank you for staying up late so that I won't be alone reviewing. Thank you for the random pop quiz. Thank you for feeding me always. Thank you for making sure that I'd be at my best. Thank you for staying. Thank you for pushing me to be the best version of myself. . . And just thank you. . . for believing in me when I doubted myself."Here comes the Ramirez Case after he learned that his Cha is pregnant and after his shotgun wedding proposal. Where he was pushed to be the Prosecutor, Jax, Yago and his Cha as the defendants and Kitty as the accused. Where Cong. Ramirez used Cha as their ace for him to follow their orders. Him, being Iñigo, put his family first - their safety over everything. He turned his conscience off. He doesn't if he turned out to be the asshole in their eyed. HE HAD TO.
"Cha, hindi ba pwede na magdagdag pa ng security sa'yo? I'm sorry. . . I just . . . Tangina. I know I promised that I'll take care of you pero . . . Putangina . . . Nang marinig ko galing mismo sa kanya iyong mga ginawa sa kanya nung tanginang 'yun . . ."
"Cha . . . please. . . bitawan mo na yung kaso . . . Tangina, ako na 'yung makaka-patay kapag may ginawa sila sayo . . . Alam ko kaibigan mo si Jax . . . pero maawa ka naman sa'kin . . . para na kong masisiraan ng ulo kaka-isip kung ano'ng mangyayari kapag may ginawa sila sa'yo . . . Unahin mo naman ako . . . kahit ngayon lang . . . Maawa ka naman . . . Hirap na hirap na ko. . ." I know that everyone will surely feel the frustration that Iñigo felt during this time. Sobrang masakit!Luck's not really on his side when Cha got stabbed and lost their son. Got parted miles and miles away to heal, to fix themselves, so they'll be whole again when the perfect time comes. Got back together, got married, built and started working in their own firm, started a life.
Here's one of the noted part of the epilogue: "Thank you, for this . . . For giving me Lily . . . for introducing me to her friends who treat me like family. . . I'd forever be grateful. . . I love you, Mrs Borromeo". You will really see hearts everywhere and feel Iñigo's feeling of gratitude. Promise 💛
MEETING THE CHARACTERS:
CHARISSE FAITH VISTE
The Queen Elsa, the achiever, the good daughter, the focuser, and the controller - Charisse Faith, everyone! Yes, "dry humored Cha" really do exist! The Queen Elsa - you will surely got chills when she started talking - short, rude and mastered the art of hiding emotions. The good daughter - who's afraid to be kicked-out of their own home if in case she got grades that are not acceptable for her father and if she's not the best - being the best means raking over Jax and Yago. The focuser - who religiously tries to memorize every words in her codal - who has those eyes targeting the top! The controller - her Iñigo's controller.
IÑIGO BORROMEO
The ever sexy Prosecutor Borromeo and Cha's soft boy. Iñigo . . . Iñigo . . . Iñigo - the perfectly imperfect Iñigo. Realistic, not idealistic. The working student, the frat member, the smart one, and has the I-don't-care-what-they-say sort of mentality. He does the hardest thing every law student have to do which is working while attending law school. He work to sustain himself - ugh! Give me that time management technique, please! Part of fraternity out of "utang na loob" that he has to Gracey's parents. A smart law student who can surpass rounds of recitation flawlessly. SANA ALL! Hahaha. Was accused of being a cheater and does shortcuts - however, he doesn't care at all. Quoting "The moment you let people validate what's true for you, that's the moment you lose." He never cheated nor knew the questions for recits - he studied hard for it. Let them say what they wanna say. Let them look at you the way that wanted to look at you. As long as you know the truth and that you did not do what they thought you did - that's practically one of the lessons you'll get in this story. (Whew! Educational?! Hahaha)
**other character has their own stories, we'll meet them more as I write their stories book review. Hehe 😂
As what I've stated, this story is close to reality - Iñigo is too damn real! This is not about a prince charming, not about some filthy rich bachelor, or some business tycoon or student from a rich family - but it's about a character who maybe really exist. He's good at all things! This story will teach you the value of family, friendship, truth and more.
