You Are my Sunshine

Goodbye Rose

"Rose!!" I screamed as she dropped to the ground and I rushed over to hee screaming her name.

"Rose, no no no no come on you're fine. Your fine I promise you'll be fine" I said while tears rushed down my face.

"Doctor... I'm okay...." she said in between shallow breaths.

"Doctor ?"

"Yes Rose? What is it are you okay?"

"Doctor w-will you sing f-for me?"

I burat into tears and barely managed to spit out what I was saying.

"Sure Rose. What song?"

"H-how *cough cough* about 'You are My S-sunshine Doctor.  You k-know that one?" She asked still taking shallow breaths between her words. I knew she was almost gone.

I agreed I would sing it just for her and only for her.

"Sure thing Rose. *sniff sniff*

You are my sunshine,

My only sunshine.

You make me happy,

When times are grey."

Starting to sob, Rose lifted her head, "G-g-go on Doctor. Do y-you know the rest?" She asked starting to lose consciousness. "I do its just I know when I get to the end of the song you'll have to go and I don't want that go happen." I said, tears rushing down my face and dropping onto her face.

I looked down,  and I saw her reaching her small and delicate hand up to my face.

"Doctor, my Doctor. I won't be gone." She said reaching to rub my face. 

Grabbing her hand gently I held it to my face, soaking it with my tears.

"I'll be here," she said pulling her hand from my grip and pointing weakly to my left heart.

"And I'll be here." She said pointing to my right heart.

"You're rIght Rose, but I won't be able to see you and I'll miss you and I wont be able to talk to you and -and -" I cried? bursting into tears again.

"Oh Doctor,  but you will. Just b-because I can't respond doesn't mean I won't h-hear you. And you have l-loads of pictures of the two of us together so just keep one of those with you. Now p-please Doctor will you f-finish the song?" She said as  quietly as a whisper.

"Yes Rose I will."

Drying tears from my face I continued on with her song.

"You'll never know dear,

How much I love you.

Please don't take,

My sunshine away." I sang

I continued on singing until the very end.

Felling Rose get limper and limper I'd look down occasionally to see her face looking back up at mine and hoping I'd be able to see it in person just a little longer.

"Please don't take,

"D-doctor?"

"Yes Rose what is it?"

"I l-love you , so much. Thank you for the memorIes." She whispered and then breathed her one last breath on my face and went limp.
