2: Welcome

"So you're new, huh?" Marrow asked, walking up to you.

He figured if he had to put up with you then he might as well be nice about it.

"Yeah." You chuckled. You were surprisingly cool about all of this.

He squinted at you and groaned before walking off.

"Boring." He sang, ignoring your looks of confusion.

You sat still, a frown on your face and your hands clamped tightly. Were you boring? You didn't think you were. But according to Marrow...

"Don't listen to him!" Elm jumped out from the shadows and shook your hand again.

"We overheard your conversation." Vine said, his monotoned voice somehow comforting.

"Yeah, I didn't mean to be boring!" You said.

Elm smiled and gave a small chuckle. "You're fine, loosen up!"

"Okay." You hummed.

They walked off, with Elm giving you a final wave before you were alone again.

You did need to loosen up.

"So sad...you gave our conversation away." Marrow returned with a water bottle and a can of soda.

"I wasn't done talking, you know." He added, tossing you the can. You looked at him questionably. "You look the type to drink soda." He motioned to your stomach, which poked out a bit with your hunched over sitting position.

You held your stomach sensitively.

"What is wrong with you?" You asked.

He laughed. "Nothing, you should just 'loosen up'."

You growled and slammed the can down before walking off.

He stood on the balcony while sipping his water. His tail, for some reason, wagged with the thought of you in his mind.

How sweet you were...if only you were his...
