Roel had a bad dream that the world was about to end, but he couldn't remember any more about his dream this morning. It was because his freaking dachshund called Salvador woke him licking at his face.
It was 8:30 then, so he hurriedly prepared himself without even showering and eating breakfast.
This day is very, very, very important. So important that Roel would risk not showering or not eating breakfast prior, in order to not be late.
Today's the last day of enrollment for the second semester of the school year. He's taking Architecture.
With that said, last days of enrollment are packed with students every single damn time.
So here he is, lining up in a long queue for the school cashier, a long-ass queue that snaked from the cashier windows through the hallway, through a classroom, out the hallway, into another classroom again, out the hallway, and through a staircase which led to the second floor of the building, and all the way through the entire fucking hallway of the second floor.
Here he is, at 2 in the afternoon, dying for his turn to pay his student fees and whatnots. Here he is, smelling his own self, unwashed, with the breath of a famished person which can instantly wilt a flower with just a whiff.
More importantly, he was smelling the whiff of Salvador's dry saliva on his face. I mean, he washed his face this morning, at least, but the smell of his dog's damned saliva stayed on his skin.
Fuck, he thought.
Anxious, uncomfortable, hungry, and thirsty, Roel couldn't wait to get home.
His thirst became worse when he saw Lou, his crush, a tall guy with a fair skin, chinky eyes, easy smile, and although a bit on the chubby side, was someone whom Roel couldn't help calling daddy in his mind.
Lou is the son of a statesman, and seeing his fair skin, airconditioned and well-maintained, and his easygoing manner, one could tell that he indeed came from a wealthy family. Plus, he has an expensive car.
What a daddy.
Roel licked his lips. He was about to avert his gaze when Lou saw him and waved casually at him.
Smiling, Lou mouthed at him, "Enrollment?"
Roel nodded. He couldn't help gushing over the fact that Lou smiled at him. Oh God, his little smile's to die for...
Lou started trailing the queue with his gaze, and upon seeing that the line went into the staircase to the upper floor, had a look of dismay on his face.
