John's p.o.v
The next morning, John woke up with a headache. It was probably from all of the crying, but who could tell. He sat up in the bed and rubbed his face, sighing a small bit. He honestly didn't want to go to school, but knew that there was no way they'd let him stay home.
Unless.....
He had an idea. He would pretend to go to school, but instead of getting on the bus he'll go to the treehouse. To be with Peggy.
He carefully got up and started to get dressed, humming as he did. He just wore something comfy so that he wasn't uncomfortable all day.
As soon as he finished, Hercules barged into his room and knocked him to the ground.
"HERC!" He cried out and tried to push the larger male off of him. "Get off of me! You're heavy!" He groaned.
Hercules laughed and rolled off of him. "Come on! Breakfast is ready!"
"Okay! Okay! I'm coming! Jesus. Just give me a few minutes ok?"
"Okay kid, but you better be down there soon." Herc laughed before running out of johns room.
He carefully got up and rubbed the back of his head, a bit of pain stemming from that spot. "Jesus... That hurts like a buttcheek on a stick..." He laughed at his own joke before rubbing his eyes and standing up. He then grabbed his bag and went downstairs.
"Hey y'all.." He said with a smile as he sat down at the table.
"Good morning sweetheart!" Martha Washington said with a warm smile, setting a plate of pancakes on the table and ruffling his hair.
"Heeeey! I just brushed that!" He groaned before laughing. "Thank you for the breakfast."
"Of course honey.. Now eat up. The bus is going to come in 20 minutes. All of you need to eat up. Especially you Theo.. You don't eat enough!"
"Wha- of course i eat enough!" Theo frowned.
"Just eat more, okay honey..?"
"I'll try ma." She smiled softly.

After about 15 minutes the group hustled out of the house to get on the bus. Once the Washington's were inside, John explained to the group what he wanted to do. They all nodded and agreed to keep it a secret. So John skedaddled to the back yard, quickly climbing up the ladder and tumbling into the treehouse.
He had sneakily packed his bag with snacks while the Washington's were doing something, and so they had quite enough to get through the day.
"Hi jackie.." Peggy said sleepily as she pulled herself up.
The nickname caught him off guard and his breath caught. She hadn't called him that in years.. But he wasnt exactly complaining. "Hey peggles.. Did you sleep well? Were you cold or anything...?" He asked quietly and set his bag down.
"I'm alright... Really. I'm just glad I get to be with you." She smiled warmly and pulled the blanket around herself.
"I'm glad i get to he with you too pegs.. I missed you alot ya know.." He smiled warmly and pulled out a few water bottles. He handed her one, and she gladly took it.
"I missed you alot too..." She giggled quietly before taking a sip of the water.
"I'm really glad you're okay though.. You could have gotten seriously hurt while trying to get to me."
"I know.... But I just couldn't live without you."
At those words John ended up tearing up a bit. He hugged her tightly and buried his face in the crook of her neck. She laughed and hugged him back.
"What's this for Jackie..?"  She smiled and rubbed his back a bit.
"I just missed hugging you.." He admitted before pulling away.
"I missed hugging you too.. But I missed talking to you more.." She beamed and booped his nose.
"Hopefully we can talk more without any interruptions today.. I am missing school to be here with you anyways so they better not," he joked and wrapped a blanket around himself.
At that, they both laughed and began to talk as if they hadnt seen each other in years instead of a few days. It wasn't until around 9 that his absence from school was noticed and the Washington's were notified.
