Washington's p.o.v
Once the two were seated at the kitchen table, he went to get Martha. Once the four of them were all seated, Washington looked at the two children in front of him.
"What am I going to do with you two..?" He asked, setting his chin in his hands and looking back and forth between them. They looked really nervous and scared, and this caused a frown to spread across his features. He thought for a moment before clasping his hands together.
"I'm going to get both of your sides on this matter.. Before I decide what to do." He said, biting the inside of his cheek. He was honestly very stressed about the whole situation, and had no idea what to do. "John.. you speak first."The boy nodded, and Washington could tell he was nervous. "W-well sir.. Y-yesterday.. When we were playing outside I looked and saw p-peggy across the street... I-I took her to the treehouse a-and then she s-slept there.. I-I was afraid to tell you guys because I didn't think that you would l-let her stay.." he said, his voice growing shaky as he went on.
"I understand why you would feel that way.. I would feel the same way if it was me." Washington said, looking at John and putting a hand on his shoulder. He could just t e l l that he was getting anxious."R-really..?" John asked quietly.
"Yeah.. I would wanna be with my best friend no matter what.. But I wanna hear peggy's side of the story now.""O-oh- okay-" Peggy said in a quiet voice before explaining everything that had happened. She explained everything, and by the end she was in tears.
Martha had went to sit next to her, and she wrapped an arm around her shoulders. She was periodically giving her tissues as well.
"So it seems like you didn't want to stay in the orphanage at all?" Washington said, crossing his legs a bit.
Peggy nodded and bit her lip, sniffling the slightest bit.
"Do you want to go back there..?" He asked quietly
She quickly shook her head. "N-no! I hate it there-"
Washington nodded and thought for a moment. "Hey... how would you feel about being fostered by a friend of mine..? He's fostering two kiddos right now, and I'm sure he'd be happy to take on another one."
Peggy's whole face lit up. "Wait, really??" She said, perking up a bit."Yeah.. I can call them and ask them tonight."At that, she jumped up from the chair and ran to him, engulfing him in a tight hug.
"Thank you mister-" She said with a wide grin."Of course kiddo.. I think you'll really like it there.." He said, ruffling her hair a bit.
"When would I go if i'm able to stay there?" She asked eagerly.
"Most likely tomorrow night.. you guys would still have to go and fill out the paperwork though."
At this, her face fell. "You mean, I'm gonna have to go b a c k to that place?"He chuckled and nodded. "Yes, but its not that bad. You're not even going to be in there an hour."
"F-fine.. but if I see anyone Im gonna get mad-" She crossed her arms and pouted a bit.Washington just laughed at this. "you are so adorable- You can stay in theo's room tonight.. I'm sure she won't mind."
"Okie!" She smiled and grabbed Johns hand.
"Hold up, before y'all leave I just want to say, John. You're still going to get in trouble for skipping school. Just not right now."
John's smile fell a bit before he nodded. "O-okay sir.."
"You don't have to call me sir kiddo. You can call me dad."
"O-oh... ok dad-" he blushed a bit in embarassment before leading peggy up to theo's room.------------------------------------------------------------------------------
