Heyo people.
I am bored and I don't want to study Geography or Biology or any of that crap so I'm gonna try to make this idea readworthy.
Tell me if I did it please? When I went to that store that day, I wouldn't have expected to meet Tyler, who I broke up with a few months ago.
We hadn't talked since, which made the situation even more awkward than it would've been anyways.
I mean, when you walk into a jewelery shop to buy a present for your friend you don't expect overhearing your ex boyfriend arguing with the shop owner about returning some ring.
He seemed to have moved on fast, I thought.
Ok, it was me who ended the relationship, but only because... I don't really know. I mean, of course I know. It just didn't work out, we kept fighting about those small things, and I got tired of the silent treatment, his death stares. Well, there had been pretty good make up sex after each fight, but I thought that if we were "meant to be" or whatever you want to call it, we wouldn't be fighting this much.
And I had moved on. I really thought I had.
Until Tyler turned on his heel, obviously wanting to storm out of the store, but seeing me before reaching the door.
You could call this moment magical, but it really wasn't.
It was heartbreaking.
Watching his face going from angry to shocked to heartbroken to sad, back to angry and then just emotionless made me remember all of him.
How I used to love him.
No, how I still loved him.
"Hi.", he said kind of breathless.
He looked gorgeous.
His hair was now a darker shade of blue than before. His eyes were cold, but that didn't make him less beautiful, just even more... irresistible.
"Are you.. I mean, what's up? What's the problem, uhm, can I help or...", I usually didn't rumble like this. But his freaking cold and evil smirk made me.
"Just trying to return something, but it's too late they say."
"Oh, okay."
"Yeah.", he stared into my eyes, angry, hurt, but controlled."I'm gonna leave now, Troye."
Him saying my name felt like he stabbed me. He used to say it so different, so loving.
"Wait!", I called after him.
"Let me try it, I can be very convincing."
"I would know."
Another punch. Oh God, how I missed him. How I loved him. How I wanted him to be mine. But I screwed up.
He gave me the package where the ring was in, hestitating and careful not to touch me whilst doing so.
I tried not to look the way I felt, shattered by such a simple gesture.
The package was a typical engagement ring package.
"So what happened between you two that you need to return the ring?"
"None of your business."
I took a sharp breath. He was right though, it wasn't my business.
"Sorry.", I whispered.
He swallowed hard, looking to the ground as we queued again.
When it was our turn, I told the owner that we just wanted to return the ring and that it hadn't even been used.
With that, Tyler moved uncomfortably next to me, but I was determined to get him his money back, engagement rings are expensive.
The owner opened the package, looking at the ring.
"I'm sorry mister, but this has been engraved, I can't just erase that and reuse it. I'm sorry that it didn't work out between you and the potential owner of this ring, but there's nothing I can do about it."
He gave me the ring back, and Tyler seemed to be even more uncomfortable as he started to shift, blushing, and whispering a silent apology in the direction of the counter.
We moved to the side to let the next ones buy their glittering pieces of silver or whatever.
"I'm sorry."
"It's okay, you tried."
"Yeah.". We stepped out on the street, standing awkwardly next to each other, both not wanting to leave but not knowing what to say either.
"Here, your ring". I tried to shove the ring into Tyler's hand, but he refused.
"Just keep it.", he said.
"It's got your name on it anyways."
His voice broke at the end of that sentence and with one last glance into my reaction, he turned around and left.
His beautiful face had been all scrunched up, and tears had started rolling down his cheeks.
I just stood there, watching him leave, frozen.
When he was out of sight, my face slowly wandered to the ring in my hands.
"Troye, my love"
It said.
I had broken up with the love of my life, who had planned to propose.
With the most beautiful ring I had ever seen in my life.
And with that thought, I started to sob and cry and whimper and break down.
