Life is a rollercoaster. One moment, you're on top of the world and the next, you're laying down on a hospital bed approaching the final days of your life. How is it that life comes to an end so instantly? Time passes by too hastily to get a hold on.
The sound of Clyde's heart rate monitor beeps at a rather slow rate. It's a miracle that he's still here. Taking breaths was never a significant problem until now. He gasps for air and closes his eyes.
'When will he appear? When will he take me with him?' Clyde exhales and opens his eyes again. The sound of birds singing soothed him. He sensed the wind coming from the open window. 'It's okay ... your time will come ...' the wind whispered, as it disappeared as soon as it appeared.
His eyes follow the sunlight and he remembers the time when he was still young and naive. The memories fade away until he sees his granddaughter sleeping softly beside him. She's barely 9 years old but has always been by his side, no matter what.
The sound of her giggles was like music in his ears. 'I'm going to miss her,' Clyde recalls. Olivia was like the bright sun shining in his life. She was as brave as a lion, as sweet as sugar and her smile made you feel like you were on top of the world. She was his superhero. Together they danced like flowers in the wind; like today would never end.
The wind howled outside as it knew this would be the end of his story. A sudden breeze made Clyde's skin quiver. He's here.
Death has arrived. It was like he gathered all storms together. Cries were heard, trying to reach inside his mind. Clyde instantly looks at Olivia, who was still sleeping soundly beside him. He exhales with relief, knowing that she won't be bothered during this process. Death sticks out his arm and reveals his hand.
This was the moment Clyde had been waiting so long for. Clyde gladly accepts his hand and finally feels the weight on his shoulders slide into the darkness. He is now finally released of this rollercoaster ride.
