Chapter 12

My eyes opened.

I was in a white room. I stood up; there was nothing in this room. It was empty. Before I could do anything, the floor disappeared and I fell. I fell into what looked like space, I was floating, where was I?

The stars disappeared and I landed on a pavement. I looked up to see a familiar street; it was my old house on the other side of Glenroy.

I got up and looked around, something was different, I heard a bang and looked around. There was my old house. I stood in shock at what I saw in front of me.

My dad was walking out the front door and down the steps. I fell to my knees, dad? What was happening to me? My dad was dead; he died in work accident 2 years ago.

I jumped up and started sprinting towards him.

“DAD! DAD, ITS ME ASHLEY!” I screamed, he didn’t flinch he just kept walking towards his car. I ran up to him and tried to shake him, but I couldn’t, my hands went straight through him. Was he a ghost?

Just as I thought that, I heard shouting from the door, Dad turned around and smiled. I turned to see my 5 year old self running down the steps towards Dad. She was laughing, when she got to the bottom step, she jumped into his arms and hugged him. I must be dreaming, none of this can be real.

My mum walked into the doorway, “Ashley! Daddy has to go to work, let’s go get ready for school” She walked down the steps towards my 5 year old self. Ashley kissed my dad on the cheek.

“I’ll see you later baby, we will go out for ice-cream!” he smiled, Ashley started cheering. He bent forward and kissed her on the forehead.

“Bye, Bye dada” she said, and then mum came and took her out of dad’s arms. He gave mum a quick kiss, jumped in the car and drove away. Before I could do anything, this scene disappeared and I fell into darkness.

I looked up and saw clouds and a sky appear, and then I dropped onto grass. Before I could get up, a boy about 9 ran past me and fell into a sandpit on top of a girl the same age.

I realised it was my 9 year old self, when he got up and helped her out of the sand. The boy brushed the sand out of Ashley’s long brown hair. I got up and moved closer towards them. She smiled and thanked him.

“Im Ashley, What’s your name?” she said, with a huge smile on her face.

“Im Luke” Luke? I ran over to him and took a closer look. It was Luke; his beautiful eyes glittered in the sunlight, his brown curly hair sat perfectly. I looked to my younger self. I’ve met Luke before?

"You want to play with me Luke?" She gave him a toothy grin.

"Yep, what ware you playing?" he asked.

"Sandcastles! come play" she called.

He sat against her and began playing, building lots of sandcastles, they were giggling. I was laughing at the innocence infornt of me. Luke would cringe at his "non-swaggy" little self. I thought he was adorable.

My younger self must've thought the same as she gazed at him affectionatley. How come I never remembered Luke? I felt a bit bad, but then I realised, he probably didn't either.

He was about to say something else, but someone called his name.

"Ashley, I've got to go, we should build sandcastles again?" he asked

"Yep we should, byebye!" Ashley was to busy building her castle to take too much notice of Lukes departure.

He smiled at Ashley then got up to run to his twin brother. Obviously Jai. Just as I was about to turn back to my younger self, everything vanished again.

This time, it was the day my dad died, I looked around at all the familiar surroundings that added up to the nightmare of that day.
