Chapter Three

Mary's POV

It was almost the end of the day, there was only 5 minutes left. I was sitting in geometry with Mr. Roth listening to him explain the first lesson.

I think it's kind of crazy; really a lesson on the first day? Ugh.

Anyway the bell rang and I got my stuff and walked out of the room. I walked down the stairs and met Jake.

Jake takes me home everyday, he just got his license at the end of last year. So he takes me home, his house is right down the road.

He lives with his grandma. His mom left him and his three brothers when he was younger. He's lived with his grandma ever since.

Anyway when I saw him I smiled and said "Hey bitch!" He smiled and said "still looking gorgeous I see."

I laughed at the sarcasm. By the end of the day my hair is either in a bun or ponytail. Also, usually my makeup rubbed off mostly, besides my mascara.

I started to walk to his car in the west parking lot. As we saw his car in view I also saw Timothy, A.K.A art boy, wall passed all the cars and down the field and next to the road.

He walks home? Why doesn't he just ride the bus home? Should we offer a ride?

I decide against it as Jake is only aloud one person in his car that isn't family.

As Jake drops me off he comes inside and says "Mom! Where's the food?"

He refers to my mom as his too, since I've known him since I was 6 and he was 7. My mom has kinda been his mother as well.

He always stays at my house after school for like two hours or so.

My mom smiles and says "Jake honey! Speaking of food, I need you and Mary to go to the store and pick me up a few things."

I sigh as Jake laughs. He loves going places for my mom and I'm always dragged along.

"You didn't even have to ask!" He replies immediately to my mama.

I sigh once again as he pushes me out the door.

As we are driving he blasts "hollaback girl" on the radio and sings loudly.

As I finish laughing at him we arrive and walk inside.

We pick up the stuff my mom needs for dinner. As we are checking out at the self checkout Jake exclaims loudly "oh gosh I forgot the cooking oil! Go get it Mary."

I walk there and get it for him, but as I turn around I run into someone and knock their stuff out of their hands.

"I am so sorry about that, here let me help." I say to the girl, who looks about my age.

"No, it was completely my fault I should have watched where I was going." She apologizes as I hand her the last thing.

"Okay, well I'm sorry again. The name is Mary by the way." I tell her.

"Kaitlyn." She replies as she nods her head.

After about 5 minutes of talking to her I realize, she's actually quite funny and friendly.

"Well I should probably get back to my friend before he kills me, but here is my number, text me so we can hang out some time." I tell her as she smiles at me.

"For sure! Maybe this weekend If you're free!" She says to me.

"Yeah I'll tell my mom, just text me." I reply as I'm walking back to Jake.

He looks around him seeming frustrated. I laugh at that a little, he's so sassy.

He spots me and says "You took forever, what did you give birth back there?"

I laugh and say "No, I made a new friend."

He laughs and says "Good, maybe I stop having to hang out with you."

I playfully punch him and say "Yeah right! You love me."

He laughs as we walk to his car, just then I see Timothy walking in with two kids. They were too old to be his, probably young siblings.

Either way I see him telling them to behave. Just then he turns and sees me and just as I try to stare a little longer Jake is pulling on my sleeve gelling me to hurry like a child.

Although he stops and stares right into my eyes for the short amount of time I was looking back at him. It gave me the same kind of thrill you get on a roller coaster. All my senses were heightened in those few seconds. It scared the shit out of me.

If this is being in love, I can't stand it.

But for some reason, if this is being in love, I fucking love it as well.

I should be able to update by Friday, if not I'm really sorry but I've been kind of busy for some reason.
