today's the day I take control, my mother is to be buried tomorrow next to my father, Adrain and I are now a mated couple and he is in the other room getting ready to take over leadership with me, everything is ready to go and John decided the first thing to get rid of is the law against outside kids not that I mind.
"places" I hear John call making me exit my old room, the room is still technically mine but all my things have been packed up and are getting ready to be moved over to the pack, I have made it very clear though that Jayden does not get to take over my spot on the council even after I adopted him because of how the ruling works and instead it's our firstborn child we have together.
I walk done the stairs and into the meeting hall where alphas and betas from different packs are gathered to witness us taking control and to hear the first rule we are putting in place but in this case rule, we are taking out of place.
I notice Adrain standing next to Alice on the side of the room as I told him too, I take my spot at the head of the room next to john.
when you take over the council and have full species meetings the council members stand in line in order of rank while our mates stand against the sidewall in the same order as to make it clear who is mated to who
"Alphas, Lunas, Beta males and females today we are here to welcome in our new members of the council who will be taking over looking after you all" Johns father speaks
"John, do you promise to protect all packs and to do your duty as head of the council" his father questions.
"I do" john smiles out, a knife is brought to the front of the room with a bowl, johns hand is sliced first and they allow three drops of blood to fall into the bowl before moving to me and down the line until everyone has blood in the bowl.
"With this, I declare you John head of council and allow each and every one of your fellow members to take control of there places in the council" I feel a pain in my head and resist the urge to grab my head, I know it is just my right being passed over to me, even though my father is dead he still holds the right until I was declared in which is now.
"give a round of applause for the newest members of the council" someone yells out, I look over at Adrian and notice him smiling at me. I turn back to john and nod telling him its time to give his speech.
"thank you so much for joining us today" john starts while stepping forward just a tad
"I myself feel honoured to be accepted by our kind and I know while we are new to this that we will take good care of you, I know you are all here really to hear the new law that is meant to go into effect to declare us really a council but after looking at the laws we have and the rule book I have had a flaw in our system and under section 20 it does say our first declaration can be an out ruled law and that is what it will be, this will cause disruption but getting rid of the law will mean less deaths of our kind and fewer rejections so I hereby announce that law 15 is no longer in action" john commands, I nod at Adrain who looks relieved
"son what are you doing" Johns father states, this is where I step in as his second in command
"stand down Weston, John makes the rules around here now" I calmly state (i don't remember if I ever named Johns dad)
"who gives you the right to talk to me like that" he growls out
"father stand down, as my second in command she is allowed to protect me, the rule is stupid now are there any questions" john growls back loosing his cool, I take a step back and join the lineup. only two hands shoot up, Adrains beta and a random alpha
"yes" john questions pointing to the Alpha
"what is law 15" he questions, I know this is one of the newer alphas so I don't blame him not knowing it off the top of his head
"law 15 is the follow up to law 14 which states no one can have kids outside of there mates, law 15 is allowing the death of the pack, child and the parents and the mates of the parents as punishment, while law 14 will stay in place law 15 is unnecessary and we will be finding a better law to go in place as punishment but it will not be as extreme as death" john states before pointing to Adrains beta
"yes" he questions
"What happens to those who are still out there with kids in hiding before the law is out ruled" he questions
"There will be no consequences, the new law we put in place will not affect them only any kids that are born after the law is in place, all those who had kids before will be safe to come out of hiding without fear of being hurt or killed" john smiles already knowing by the empty seat beside him that it's my mates beta.
one of the men further down the line who I and john don't have anything to do with steps forward
"where is your alpha, it is very distasteful for him to be missing out on this meeting" I immediately step forward
"back in line Ash, the alpha of that pack is my mate and is standing in line with all the mates, he can not be in line and in his seat at the same time" I hiss out making john rest his hand on my shoulder to try and calm me down
"any other questions," john asks trying to distract everyone from my stare down with ash, no one else raises there hands
"you are all dismissed" john commands making Adrain rush to my side and pull me into his arms, he knows that while we are not ready to be mates that because we are now fully mated his touch will fully calm me down, ashes mate does the same thing and all I do is melt into Adrain's arms.
"thank you" he states to john
"you are more than welcome" he smiles before he rushes over to Alice.
"go on a date with me" Adrain smiles making me nod
"Okay, how about tomorrow after I adopt Jayden?" I question glad that I no longer have to hide that my mate has a child
"Sounds like a plan."
