The Voices

I walk to my room and take off my white night gown. I replace it with my blue hoodie and jeans instead. I slip on my tennis shoes and grab a bag. The contents I put in the bag include water, a change of clothes, chips, and the knife I used. I've never been outside, but Mother said it was dangerous. I walk outside, unfamiliar with my surroundings. As far as I can see, there is more houses to the left and then the woods to the right.

Without thinking, I walk into the woods. Strange noises come from all around. I feel something slither on top of my shoe. I stumble backwards, landing roughly on the hard floor. I then see a snake slither past me. I hear a laugh. I look around cautiously before getting up. Might have just been the wind. No one else would come into the woods, right?

The sun is just rising, so no one should be here. I sit on the hard forest floor, with my knees to my chest. I start crying. I'm alone now. Mother was right, the forest is scary. Then, I hear it again. The laugh. "Come out!" I scream, finally not able to handle it anymore. It stops. "Now why would I do that?" The voice says. Based on the voice, its a older male. His voice is deep and croaky. A shiver runs up my spine and I quickly turn around, only to be met with more trees and bushes. I grab a nearby rock and go to hit my head with it. I'm going crazy, I think to myself. But then, someone grabs my arm, making me stop.

I look up at him, his face completely white. But then he seems to explore the rest of my face. "Little Miss, why do you have blood on your face?" He asks me, placing a gentle finger under my chin, lifting it up a little. At first, I go to pull away, but then I stay. If this is how I die, this is how I die. No use in running. "I fell..." I say, lying and looking towards the ground. The men laughs and wipes it away with his free hand, "It doesn't look like a scratch or anything, maybe next time, think of something a little more creative."

My eyes go back to his face, or at least where his face should be. "Excuse me sir, who are you? Were you the voice?" I stand up, brushing the dirt off me. The man stands as well, twice the size of me. I've never seen anybody to tall, but then again, the only other people I saw were Mother and the guys she brought back. "I am Slender-men. The owner of these woods."

"O-Oh! I'm sorry! I didn't know these woods were owned by somebody. I should leave." I quickly start turning to go away when I feel him grab my arm again. "No no, I still have questions for you, Miss."
