Kassandra's POV
I could feel her coming. Even though our connection was nearly broken I could still feel her.
From the moment she had been taken from me I had felt incomplete. My other half was gone. I had no idea where. No way to get her back.
Laas had been furious. By the time the guards had decided to show up she had already destroyed the area, I did nothing to stop her.
Our mate had just been taken, we should be allowed to vent.
"Are you ready?" Scar asked from her floating position beside me.
I looked over at her and smiled sadly.
"I will never be ready for this." I told her honestly.
"But I will still do it." I said just as Fen came up to my other side.
Fen had also changed during her absence. His happy attitude had faded and he closed himself off only really opening up when he was with Scar. I knew he wasn't happy with what was about to happen but he also knew that it had too.
"They're here." A voice said from.behind me. Looking back I saw the entire Illirian army in different formations behind me.
The time had come, it was the war of prophecy and I would have a front row seat.
A shiver went down my spine and I saw Laas pick her head up and heard her whine.
A black dimensional portal opened a small distance away from me and it brought back the memories of her being taken.
Of her clawing the ground, fighting against the chains that were trying to drag her into the oblivion. The way her blood had flowed from the two wounds in her shoulders.
The promise she had made to me about finding her way back. It seemed she would keep that promise, just not the way we had thought.
We watched as members of the dark faction poured out of the dimensional portal but we didn't engage yet.
It was then that I saw her. The last to exit the dimensional portal. She still shined so brightly. A lone star against the darkness. I wanted to go to her, throw my arms around her and never let her go again but I knew that I couldn't.
She took up a position in front of the dark faction, directly opposite me and for the first time in what seemed like forever I was able to look into those beautiful swirling rainbow eyes.
The short but meaningful time we had spent together. How she looked at me as if I was her entire world. The way her presence made me feel safe. I missed it all.
"Kassandra." Scar said snapping me out of my daze.
Nodding my head I summoned Oblivion and watched as she summoned her blade of darkness.
I'm not sure which side did it but someone let out a war cry and both sides attacked.
I moved directly for her and she did the same. As soon as our blades met there was an explosion of power between them.
She looked into my eyes and I felt Laas crying out for her mate and I wanted to do the same.
"Kassandra." She said and I felt my heart skip at the sound of her voice.
"Aliana.............. I've missed you." I said as I pushed against our blades forcing them closer to her.
"You've gotten stronger my love." She said and I smiled internally at her praise but frowned when the blades started moving back in my direction.
"But not strong enough." She said.
We battled back and forth, neither giving an inch but I knew that she was holding back. As our swords clashed again I looked into her eyes, looking for the love that she kept reserved for me but there was no love in her swirling eyes.
What I did see caused me to freeze for a second and even though she didn't need that second, I was still surprised when she immediately stabbed me with her sword. Everything started to go quiet as I looked into her blank face but I was sure I heard a vicious roar from somewhere behind me.
Aliana looked over my shoulder and growled before I was pulled back, the blade slipping painfully from my stomach, My eyes were still on Aliana as I watched Fen and Scar attack her, waiting for the effect of the blade I was surprised when I felt sparks on my shoulder and lower back from whoever had pulled me back. Those shocks were the only thing that made me turn my head from the clash in front of me. Looking back into the face of my rescuer my eyes widened when I saw Aliana.
I looked back over and Fen's fight and saw them still fighting Aliana, then looked back at the one holding me. She looked different from the one I was just fighting, there were visible scars on her and her hand was covered in a black substance and I wasn't sure of this was a trick or not, but when I looked in her eyes I found what I had been searching for in the other Aliana and I let out a painful sob as she pulled me into a tight hug, careful of my wound.
I could feel the pressure evaporate from me we connected again, I could feel her in my head and heart, Lass' and Krii's connection was back and I finally felt like I could breathe again.
"I promised I would return to you." She said as I buried my face in her neck and cried unable to answer her.
"Please do not cry my love." She said just as we heard a yelp come from behind me, she pulled back and placed her hand over my wound and I felt her healing power flow through me, she healed me until Laas was able to take over and then we both turned to where the other Aliana was fighting to see both Fen and Scar covered in cuts.
They both backed off until they were at our sides as the other Aliana twirled her blades and glared at my Aliana.
"Selene won't be happy you interrupted her plans, do you know that she has half the dark faction out searching for you? Who would have thought that you would just give yourself up so easily." The other Aliana said with a sick smile on her face.
Smiling for Aliana was rare and when she did smile it was as if the worked was smiling at you and to see such a sick and twisted smile on the imposters face made me shudder. Aliana moved closer to me as if she felt my nervousness and the imposters eyes flashed to me.
"Such a shame she interrupted our time together, don't you think? I would have enjoyed carving you up while all the while you thought it was your precious lover. How about after I kill her, you and I get to know one another better?" She asked and Aliana growled and I could feel Krii fighting her.
Placing my hand on her lower back helped to calm them a little but not much because Aliana summoned her own blade of darkness and moved away from us as Fen and Scar closed in around me.
"Oh! Is the big, bad Aliana ready to play? Mommy is going to reward me so well for bringing you back." The imposter giggled and launched herself at Aliana.
