VALERIE'S POV
I stood outside the door to my "bedroom". It was just a dark room. A very dark, dusty, small room.
"Valerie, come down here!"
I reluctantly went to the kitchen, where my mom was probably waiting to punish me for rainy weather or something.
"Yes, mom?" I said, sweating.
"No water! Now both of you, listen here,"
I quickly ran down the stairs towards my mother's insanely large bed.
"Yes?" I asked again, doing my best not to sweat (which wasn't working out so well).
"Valerie, no water! How many times do I have to say it?"
"I can't help it, Ma!" I sobbed.
My mom stood up, towering over me at six foot three.
"You don't back talk me or else you will no longer live here," she said sternly. I pouted. There wasn't much I could do.
"I'm not 'back talking', I'm telling you a fact!"
"That's it!" And I felt a stinging pain across my face.
I must have been knocked out cold, because the next thing I knew, I woke up in a dumpster.
I heard a scuttling sound and tried to pull myself out from the dumpster. I made a wave of water splash the dirt off and kicked the rat which was the source of the scuttling.
"Hey," I heard a voice say from behind me. I turned around to see a very tall boy with huge muscles and a dirty mess of black hair that feel into his face so I couldn't see who he was. He was also covered in dirt.
"Hello," I said back.
"How are you so clean and why is your hair so wet?" He asked suspiciously. I wrapped my fingers around my wrist where the electric blue Pisces sign was.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," I said a bit too quickly.
"You're clean and you're wet, but I saw you get thrown into the dumpster." Everyone else uses their powers, why not me too? I asked myself. I sighed and dropped my hand, revealing the Pisces sign.
"I can control water," I mumbled, waving my hand around and making another wave of water splash me.
The boy flipped back his hair, revealing neon green eyes which were almost as big as pie plates.
Then he laughed. He laughed so hard that tears were streaming down his face.
"Okay, DG, joke's over, where's that water coming from?"
"DG?"
"Dumpster Girl!" He grinned. I wondered whether or not it was worth it to punch that stupid grin off his face.
"Don't call me that."
"Why not, Dumpster Girl?" His grin widened, which was surprisingly possible.
"My name is Valerie, you little-" I was cut off by another fit of laughter from the grinning idiot.
"Little what? What? Can't finish that sentence just 'cause you're a little girl?" He asked.
I suddenly had an idea to freak him out.
Water started trickling down from the roofs of the buildings on either side of us. The water slowly formed a word, or rather my name. His eyes became even wider.
"V-Val-Valerie..." He whispered. I smirked as a huge wave splashed up from the word-puddle, drenching him.
"You win! You win, Valerie!" He yelled, gasping for air. I giggled as he coughed.
"You-" he said, "Are a freaking demon!"
"No, I'm a Zodiac Master," I said. I walked past him and out onto the street-the quiet, deserted street.
