I walked into the kitchen and noticed a small note on the fridge.

Hey Grace,

I'm so sorry I can't be there on your first day of school in your senior year.
I had to leave for work early this morning and I won't be back before tomorrow evening.
I hope you have a great day

Mom

Well my first day of school already sucks and school hasn't even started yet. I lived alone with my mother as long as I could remember. My mom told me that my dad left her when he found out my mom was pregnant with me. And I had no intentions of meeting this guy, what an asshole! Who does something like that! Anyway, most of the times I live all by myself because my mom is always busy with work. I grabbed my bags and search for my keys. I quickly left the house, just in time to catch the school bus.

'Grace!!' I heard a scream coming from the back of the bus. I quickly moved to where the scream came from and I was almost tackled by my best friend as she pulled me into a tight hug. 'Grace, I've missed you so much! How was your vacation.' 'Oh it was okay I guess. Nothing special.' As soon as I sat down my friend Madison began to chatter about her trip to Europe. I smiled because of her enthusiasm. God I've missed my friends!!

The school bell ring and students quickly ran towards their first period, they didn't want to be late for their first class. I however walked slowly towards my classroom. I had history first, with Miss. Holstein. I had her last year, and I could tell she didn't like me that much. I was walking towards my classroom as I heard someone yell my name. 'Miss Williams!' I turned around to see two people standing at the end of the hallway. It was the director. 'Hi Grace, would you be so kind to give a small tour to our new student here. I saw a very tall boy standing in front of her. His back was turned towards me so I couldn't see his face. He had jet black hair that was pulled to one side. It was quite long, it stopped at the length of his shoulder. I noticed he had a very pale skin colour. He was dressed all black. Black shoes, black skinny jeans, black shirt, black everything. Gosh this guy must love the black colour. I immediately noticed the amount of tattoos on his arms. I rolled with my eyes. The look of this guy just screamed for trouble.
But when he turned around to face me, my heart stopped for a second. Two beautiful pair of piercing blue eyes looked straight into mine. I noticed a small amount of eyeliner around them that made the blue colour of his eyes stand out even more. He gave a small smile when he saw me. And I froze for a moment. I had to say that was the cutest smile I've ever seen. I noticed a ring pierced through his nose and his lips. The director left and soon we were the only one standing in the hallway. 'Hi' he said with a remarkably low voice, 'I'm Andrew, but you can just call me Andy.' 'Hi, I'm Grace.' I managed to say. 'So... uhm ... you're new here right?'. 'Yes that's right. Let me see your schedule. And without asking he grabbed my schedule from my hands. 'Hey!' I said annoyed. He looked up and I saw a small grin on his face. I rolled with my eyes. He noticed. 'What? He asked.' 'Oh nothing, so what made you transfer schools?' I asked.
'Well...uhm...' he scrubbed the back of his head, awkwardly. 'I got kicked out of school.' I rolled with my eyes again. 'What?' 'Oh nothing, I already thought it must be something like that.' 'Hey! He said.' While looking at me angrily. 'And what made you think that?' 'Well...uhm...' I nodded awkwardly towards his tattoos. He did look like someone who seeks trouble. He looked down at his arms. 'Ouch!' He said. He moved closer to my ear and whispered; 'You know, you shouldn't judge people on their appearance, it's rude.' His low voice whispering in my ear sent shivers down my spine. He looked at me and grinned. 'I see we have history together first period'. I looked at his schedule. He was right. Great, can this day get any worse...

We walked into the classroom. 'Ah, miss Williams. I was wondering when you would show up.' Miss Holstein said annoyed. 'I was asked to give the new student a small tour. 'Ah the new student. Welcome Mr. Biersack take a seat.' He nodded and sat down on the seat next to me. I rolled with my eyes and completely ignored him. So his full name was Andy Biersack. I swear I've heard that name before, I just had no idea when. I could feel him staring at me and it honestly creeped me out a bit. But I had trouble looking away from him. Damn those beautiful blue eyes!!!

'Mr. Biersack!' Miss Holstein yelled. 'Uh yes...' he said confused. 'Did you hear anything I just said.' 'Well... uhm... I definitely heard sounds but I'm not sure if I can remember the words tho.' I heard some kids laugh but I just rolled with my eyes, this guy was definitely the looking for trouble kinda guy. 'Very funny. So Andrew let's see if you can tell me something about the roaring 20's. That was what I was talking about, a reminder for if you didn't know that.' Andy turned his eyes towards me and I saw a small grin on his face. It was silence for a minute but than he began to talk and my jaw dropped. 'Well first of all miss Holstein the roaring 20's was a period in the United States when a lot of people thought it was safe to buy as much products as possible. Not realizing what the consequences would be. But the more they bought the sooner they would end up in a crisis. People borrowed so much money from the banks that they couldn't effort it anymore and in no time the crisis hit. They also stopped buying products from countries in Europe what caused the crisis to spread across Europe as well.' I looked around in the classroom and everyone looked shocked. Nobody expected him to give an answer like that. Miss Holstein didn't know what to say anymore. She was just as shocked as the rest of the students. 'Well... mr. Biersack. I think I owe you an apology.' At that moment the bell ring. I was relieved I could finally leave this class but I cheered to early. 'Wait! Class before you go. I want to start this year with an assignment. You'll have to write an essay about a particular moment in history, to refresh your memory a bit after the summer break. You have to work with a partner. You'll work with the partner next to you. No exceptions!' Oh my god this was unbelievable, this day gets worse every second. I turned my head facing Andy. 'So I guess this means we're partners.' He said with a small grin on his face. I didn't say anything instead I rolled my eyes again. Well at least he has some knowledge about history.

The day went by slowly, too slow. I was relieved when the last period ended. Turned out I had almost all of my classes with Andy. Great, this was going to be a very, very long year.

I immediately ran towards my friends as I saw them standing outside the school building.
'Grace! I heard them scream.' I was immediately pulled into a big group hug. 'I missed you so much guys.' I didn't have many friends at this school, but that didn't matter because they were all I could ask for. They were the most caring and loving people I knew. 'Oh... my... god!!' Amy screamed in my ear. 'Who is that!'. I turned around to see who she was looking at and there he was standing all alone, his back pressed against the wall of the school building. He was lighting up a cigarette while studying all the different students that were on the school grounds. 'Oh his name is Andy, he is new here. And he is also my partner for my history assignment.' I said with an annoyed face. I looked back at Amy who looked at me with an confused expression. 'What?' 'Oh my god Grace, are you blind?! This is good news girl. I mean... look at him.' 'I looked at her questioningly.' Madison started talking: 'oh come on Grace, you can't deny he is-' 'FUCKING HOT!!' Amy added. 'Okay yes, I guess he is but... his look just screams trouble. And I don't think... 'Oh come on Grace, this is going to be great.'
