"What type of answer is that?" I asked my mom.
"Can't we do some sort of power transplant?" I continued."I could be a lab rat."
"Cool!" my little sister exclaimed
"No, not cool!" my mother scolded, wiping the table.
She busily hurried around, stacking up plates and cleaning. She got a tissue and started to wipe Arrien's mouth. Arrien is my little sister. She's only five years old.
I sighed to myself. Of course. Hit the jackpot by getting powers, but all I can do is glow.
"You know we don't know anything about these powers. Even the scientists are puzzled." she said, busily walking around
I heard the bus driving around, and mentally cursed myself. I rushed up the stair and grabbed my backpack, and hopped down the stairs three at a time. I got to the bus at the last second, just as the busdriver was about to pull away.
"Axel!" my friend Caesar said.
He patted down to the seat next to him, and I gladly took it.
"Thanks" I replied.
Suddenly, some glop hit the back of my head. I put my hand back and found it covered with peanut butter. The bus erupted with laughter and finger pointing.
I scanned the bus and saw Zion snickering. Of course, it had to be the number one bully picking on me today. My emotions started to make me glow. A faint red and orange aura surrounded me, as I blinked on and off.
I started to get up from my seat, but Caesar put a hand on me.
"Don't. It's not worth it." he said.
I sighed, and sat back in my seat. I pulled out my phone and snapped a picture of myself. My jet black hair now had streaks of brown peanut butter in it.
I growled to myself, and jumped out of my seat. I stood up right next to Zion.
"What's up, shrimp? Trying to lose a fight?" Zion said, standing up.
He was at least a foot taller than me, and suddenly this seemed like a very bad idea. I wanted to just punch his face, but I knew I would lose.
"What's wrong? Lost your nerve, nerd?" Zion taunted.
I cocked back my fist and took a wild swing. Zion dodged it and returned the favor. It caught me square across the face. I picked myself up from the ground, and staggered up.
I tried to remember everything I knew about fighting. I jabbed him in the stomach, but he only slightly recoiled. He just grinned at me, and again, returned the favor. The wind was forcefully knocked out of me, and I fell to the bus floor.
I saw the bus driver looking back in the mirror, and he ignored the fight. As long as he got paid, it didn't matter if a kid blew up the bus. We reached our stop, and the rest of the kids pooled out of the bus.
All except Caesar. He put a hand out, and I took it. He pulled me up, and started to leave. I caught a bit of my reflection in the mirror, and saw my face swelling up. I had no idea why they called it a black eye. It was everything except black.
Purple, dark blue, even bits of yellow and green were swirling in a mess. The bruise was right below my eye, and it stung.
"The emergency kit, dude." Caesar reminded me.
We split as I headed to the restroom. I pulled out the hidden make up kit, and slapped a Do Not Disturb sign on the door. I carefully applied the makeup to the bruise, and mostly fixed it. Next, I started to wash my hair. The peanut butter had solidified, and I couldn't get it out. It messed up my hair.
I stared at my reflection. Small slivers of the bruise still showed, and my hair was now a really dark shade of brown. I sighed. It would have to do, I was almost late to first period.
I ran through the halls and into Maddie. Her books spilled, and I helped her pick them up. She sniffed the air, then pointed to my hair.
"What happened to your hair?" she asked.
"Soap and peanut butter don't go together." I replied.
"Did Zion get you again?" she queried
"Yup." I said in resignation.
I dashed away from the conversation, and slipped into my seat in homeroom. I sat right next to Caesar, just as the bell rang.
"Sorry dude." he whispered.
"It's okay." I said.
Then with a malicious smile in my voice, I said, "And I'll get him back."
I rubbed my hands like I was a villain from a cliche action movie, and Caesar stifled a laugh.
"How about you, Axel?" Mrs. Garner asked.
"Well, it's a hard topic to discuss." I said, playing it off.
"What you did over the weekend is a hard topic to discuss?" Mrs. Garner queried.
A chorus of laughs filled the room. I slinked down in my seat, hoping I would disappear.
"Axel, please pay attention in further classes." my teacher stated.

I grabbed my tray and headed into the lunch line. Zion clipped my leg and I tripped.
No, not this time. I looked at him while he smirked. My eyes started to burn. My hand flickered on and off then stopped. A golden ball formed inside my hand.
"Cool!" the crowd said.
I threw it at him and he dodged it.
"Axel! Zion! my office now!" a familiar voice said.
It was the principal. It was an awkward walk in the hall to her office. She was steaming and I swear I saw a puff of smoke come out of her ears.
She led us to her office, also known as Inevitable Death.
"Now tell me why you used your powers."
Zion looked at me.
"Both of you" she said, waiting for a response.
"He tripped me." I said pointing at him.
Mrs. Kilgore hated kids, so It was my best chance to just tell the truth and hope for the best.
"Because he punched me." Zion shot back.
Really? Well, what did I expect from him. Classic ZIon move. I thought in my head.
"And he used his glowy orb thingy too." he whimpered.
"I just found out about that."I protested.
"He put peanut butter in my hair!" I accused.
He shot me a murderous glare. I was going to pay for that.
"That would explain my sudden cravings" she mumbled.
I stifled a laugh.
"I know the perfect solution." she said.
"There's a new project in Biology.....(Pause for dramatic effect. cue the bad music annnnd we're live)
"You two will work together." she said.
360 productions helped me with this. But I made most of it.
