The Search for Light

Part 1; Chapter 1

The rocking of my bed woke me up from my afternoon nap. I groaned as a noise, which I assumed to be my alarm, started. It was loud as if it was right under my pillow. I moved my hand under my pillow, to grab my phone and turn off my annoying alarm when my hand hit the coldness of the ground. The ground was shaking. My bed was shaking.

My eyes snapped open to a blurry mess. I couldn't see a thing. I moved my arm up to try and comfort my eyes but something cold and metal stopped it. A stinging pain rushed through my knuckles and up my arm. It was so unexpected that my whole body jerked backward.

I blinked away the blur and shook my hand, trying to get rid of the pain. When the pain subsided, I took a good look around the room. There was a long metal seat filled with comfortable cushions and blankets. Behind it, was a large rectangular window covered by a thick velvet cloth that blocked out the sun. There was a window to my left and what looked like a door to my right. On the door, there was a small window that was also covered by the same velvet cloth. The window to the left was also covered by the velvet curtain.

I tried to get up but my legs were constantly being attacked by pins and needles. It hurt to walk but I ignored the constant arguments from my legs and made my way to the window on the right. Pushing aside the curtain, I saw green and brown rushing past me. Instantly, I pulled the curtains together.

I'm seeing things wrong, I thought. My hands went up to clear my eyes and that's when I realized I wasn't wearing my glasses.

Frantically, I stepped away from the window and looked around. I couldn't see without my glasses. I mean, I could but it was all blurry. At the thought, my hands stop their search. I could see perfectly fine, nothing was blurry.

"Holy frick, it's a miracle," I said out loud. I put my hands in front of my face and then moved back. They didn't blurry at all. What the heck is going on?

Before I could ponder on the thought, I was thrown in the air and forced to land on my back. The neighing of horses finally made me realize I was in a carriage. It all made sense.

I leaned back and stretched, letting out a loud yawn in the process. "A better question would be: where am I?"

"We're almost to Eden,," a male voice said from the front. My head snapped towards his voice. There was a curtain blocking me from the man on the other side.

I got up from the floor, dusting my gown. I'm wearing a dress!

I looked down at the beautiful gown that covered my body. Flame like streams of red burst from the bottom of the red gown. On my right breast were three different pins, each a different color. They formed a triangle.

On the top was a purple pin with a symbol I could not recognize. The one to the right was bright and beautiful green and the one to the left, a light aqua. They all had different symbols drawn on them and they all totally clashed with the color of the dress.

I ignored the pins and pushed the curtains. The world outside was just woah.

Tall, and I mean tall, trees surrounded me. They reached up to the heavens and they were oh so very green. The darkest, brightest, eye-catching shade of green. They were also very, very, thick. I held my breath as I looked at them and took in the scenery.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" I almost jumped off of whatever we were on at the voice. Beside me, guiding the horses, was a man with dark brown hair and pale blue eyes. In all of my awe and wonder, I had forgotten I wasn't alone. But you couldn't blame me. I had never seen so much green before.
