𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘 𝐏𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐓 the dried blood that was caked on her fingernails, hoping to get rid of any reminder about how her best friend had just been shot because the hit-man was trying to get to her. A frown was etched onto her face, as she clenched her fists at her sides.

His face, flashing in her mind ― she was still in denial, there was no way he would do this. Would he?

The door opened to show JJ, the blonde ― ex media liaison turned profiler. "Rossi's looking for you," JJ spoke, her blue eyes taking in the appearance of the normally very calm agent. It was like she was holding a lot of guilt.

"My best friend was just shot." Avery spoke, her voice no louder than a whisper. "I think I deserve a break, don't you?" She spoke, and JJ pursed her lips ― although she thought there was something the brunette agent was hiding, she couldn't out her finger on it.

"Look, you saw the killer." JJ spoke, shutting the bathroom door. "This may help us. If you just sat down with a sketch―"

"No need." Avery spoke, looking back at the mirror ― her painfully pale skin, and the dark baggy lines underneath her eyes indicated she needed more sleep. "I know who it was." She says, running her fingers through her hair ― as JJ looked at her shocked.

"And trust me, it's not who anyone would expect," Avery said, "Because the UnSub your looking for, is not a male ― it's a female." She spoke, pursing her lips before side stepping JJ and walking out of the bathroom in the search for Rossi.

While walking at a relatively slow pace, someone walking at a very fast pace ― almost crashed into her, "Holy unicorns, I'm so sorr― oh my god, your Avery Rico!" She speaks, rushed and Avery sends her a soft smile.

"Hi." She spoke, rubbing her fingers over her tired eyes. "You must be Penelope, I've heard a lot." She spoke and Garcia gaped. "I'm not that famous, now close your mouth ― or your going to catch flies." She teased and Penelope giggled.

"Oh shit, I've got to get these too the team. Their the saline tests, and it's where this case gets so much more confusing." Penelope spoke, pouting and Avery's eyebrows cocked up at the new information. "They matched Raisa's, the sister that committed suicide."

Avery froze, the memories flooding back to her ― writing that hit list, a day after her brothers murder after her father asked her too. "This just proves that Raisa is actually alive, the saline is new, by two days." That made it worse.

✶✶✶

"𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐒𝐀 𝐈𝐒 𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐕𝐄," Penelope spoke as her heels hit off of the carpeted floor ― Avery's own heels, clipped behind hers. "The saline on this letter, it's two days old." Garcia says, pointing at the letter.

"So where the hell has she been for three decades?" JJ hums, and Avery sighed from beside Penelope. "And why couldn't we find her?" She questioned, as Avery went back to her old habit of picking at her nails.

"You know, there is something I've noticed about you." JJ spoke up, and Avery's head snapped up to look at her. "Whenever your nervous, or seem like you are hiding something ― you pick at your nails." JJ justified and a small, sad smile tugged at her lips.

"I'm running prints from everywhere, police records, job applications that require identification of identity." Garcia spoke up from beside Avery, and the brunette felt her resolve dropping around her.

There was no way she was going to be able to keep up this lie anymore. Especially with Penelope running finger prints. Avery's phone went off and she looked down at it with a cocked brow. Ivanna.

"Yeah. Rico," She spoke as she walked away from the BAU team. "What the hell is going on, you know better than to call me while I'm working." Avery hissed, and Ivanna sobbed on the other end of the call.

"Gabe's dead." She spoke, and Avery froze ― the wording of it just didn't sit right with her. "It was Alla." She says. Avery sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose in annoyance ― a small utter along the lines of 'crap' came out of her lips.

"She shot Carlie too." Avery speaks ― running her fingers through her hair, "Ivanna, this is no longer a hit list ― this is kill anyone that gets in the way."

"I know." Ivanna sighed over the phone, "I know where Alla is,"

"You what?" Avery spoke, her fists turning into fists ― "You know where one of our suspects are?" She speaks, pursing her lips as she felt the BAU teams eyes bore into her back. "Jesus Christ. Send me the address." She speaks, before ending the call.

"Who was that?" Morgan asks, and Avery purses her lips ― and doges the question.

"She knew where the suspect is, she's sending the add―" She spoke, when her phone pinged and she pulled her phone up to her face. "Got it." She mused, before calling the rest of her team. Morgan looked at his team.

"I'm really getting pissed off with her." Morgan spoke and JJ looked at him with a cocked brow. "She's lying through her teeth and is not telling the truth about something." He says, gritting his teeth and Rossi nods in agreement before everyone grabbed their FBI vests.
