Lorenzo's POV

I was on my way to the park again. I was hoping he would be there.

He was leaving when I got there. I heard his cries. He didn't see me until he bumped into me.

He was hiding himself an when he lifted his head, my breathe caught in my throat. It was brutal. He was beaten black and blue. The tears running weren't helping his appearance and he looked like he hadn't eaten in days.

"What hurts Gio?" I asked trying to peel him off me to look at him again. He was freaking out at this point. "Gio, breathe." I said smoothly, while holding onto his cheeks. "Baby doll. Look at me." He looked up and as soon as we met eyes he hiccupped and started silently crying.

"You're okay. Now tell me what hurts." He shook his head no. "Gio now!" I growled getting aggravated that someone had touched him and now he's hurt.

He whimpered and cowered back. "I'm sorry, don't hit me!" He yelped. Automatic guilt hit me in the face. He looked like a scared puppy.

"Baby doll. I'm sorry. Just please tell me what hurt and I promise to fix it." He shook his head again. "I-I don't w-want to go to t-the hospital." He started crying again. "Please don't take me there." He sobbed.

I held onto him for awhile until he calmed down. I rubbed his back, only to feel his spine pointing out. I moved my hands around to his sides, only to have him yelp out. "Is that where it hurts?" I questioned stupidly because he started tearing up again.

"Come on." I said sternly and grabbed his hand. "Lorenzo, don't take me to the hospital please!" He kept saying until we reach my house. "Why are we here?" He questioned

"To see the personal doctor that the mafia has on staff." I stated not realizing what I said. I turned around to see his face only to see his face blank. "Don't worry. No one else is here, its only him. He's staying here for a couple of days."

-

Turns out Gio had broken 3 ribs and fractured his wrist. The doc said he needed to rest due to that and him being beaten and malnourished. The doctor had told me it looked like he hasn't been fed well for awhile now.

So here I am making him soup while he lays on the couch. I had forced him to stay here and at least eat something before he tries and escape.

"Lorenzo, can I turn the tv on?" I chuckled before screaming a faint, 'yeah.'

I just wanted to know why he was always getting hurt and why the hell he wasn't eating. Was everything at home okay? Was he homeless? Was someone bullying him at school? What id happening with him?

-

I served him his food and sat next to him softly without trying to move the couch. "Thank you." He smiled softly at me before devouring the food. "Slow down, big boy. You're going to get a stomach ache." He giggled but slowed down.

After watching him eat all his food, I asked him a terrifying question. "Gio, please stay here until you're better." He looked up at me so quickly I thought he gave himself whiplash.

"No, I can't." He said before glancing at the clock. "I have to go." He made his way to the door, letting at small whimpers. Control yourself Lorenzo.

"Here at least take my number before you leave." I gave it to him before kissing him on the cheek.

Letting him walk out that door that night was the worst decision I had made.
