Chapter Five

Let me tell you this weekend went by to fast. I couldn't bring myself to leave my apartment after he left. Especially after being almost killed.

I get ready for work placing on a black knee length skirt and lose deep blue blouse. I pulled my hair up in a tight bun. My makeup was mascara, thin black eye liner and some foundation.

I leave my apartment and head outside. I see a sleek black sports car pull up to the curb.

I stop mid step. Oh god please don't tel-. My thought was cut short when Maxwell steps out to his full height and adjusts his tie. I turn my head and start walking to the right on the side walk.

I hear heavy foot steps coming up then a hand grip my arm and yanks me back.

"Where are you going? I came to get you." He said.

"I'm sorry did I tell you to come get me? I don't think so. Thanks but no thanks." I snap at him and rip my arm from him.

I keep walking till I see a cab and call it over. I see at the corner of my eye he is trying to catch up to me. I swear you could see the anger radiating off him.

The cab pulls up and I jump in telling him to gun it and gave him directions. I won't dare turn around. I already felt his eyes boring into my head.

After a few minutes my phone goes off and I start digging through my purse and found it.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Hi, I'm calling for Ariana." A woman's voice states.

"This is her."

"We are calling for your follow up appointment in two weeks for your blood work." She says.

How could I forget my blood work test! They have to count my white blood cells because of my cancer since its to low.

"Yes, this is her and thank you for the reminder." I say thoughtfully.

"We are just calling for a reminder and that your taking your pills still." She states.

"Yes, I am still twice a day."

"Alright good to hear. We look forward to your check up. Have a good day." She says politely.

I say bye and hang up. I'm so worried now. I swear these pills are keeping me alive. Really they are since they help stabilize the cells growth.

The cab pulls up I pay and say bye. As I walk up to the building I'm happy to see Maxwell not there.

I walk inside the lobby and the red head receptionist that wears to much make up was there.

I walk past her as she gives a snobby look. I make my way to the elevator and step inside to the 30th floor.

After a few levels it stops for a pick up.

The guy with blonde curly hair steps in. He looks at me and gives me that same pearly white smile. A smile that could make a girl swoon.

"Oh hey long time no see!" He says cheerly.

"Hey." I say.

"Ariana right?"

I nod, "I never caught your name."

"Oh sorry it's Cole." He says while running his fingers through his curls nervously.

I nodded and silence took over. Right before the bell dinged for the doors to open. Cole spoke up, "Congrats on getting the SA position, see you later."

The doors open and he gets off on 29th floor the doors close once again.

I'm back in silence.

A minute later the bell dings and opens again. I step out into the lobby I start walking but I didn't get to far. As I turn around the corner I see Maxwell's door fly open and him stomping his way over to me fuming.

I sigh, this is gonna be a long week.
