Chapter 3-Ignore

"I'll pick you up after school love you loser" my brother Jin shouts out of his car as he throws my lunchbox to me that he made as I stepped out of the vehicle.
"Don't be late or else I'll tell mom and dad"
"Yeah yeah" he says as he drives off

Jin's my half brother. He's six years older than me. When he was about 4 years old his mom passed away because of cancer. Two years later our dad met my mom and made me. My moms full Filipino. So that makes me half Korean-Filipino. Jin gets along great with my mom. As if she was his real mom. So we have no issues there. A happy content family. With a little disagreement sometimes.

I had twenty minutes before class starts so I figured to go to the red bench.

Second day of 6th grade and there's already drama between me and Cassie. I've been friends with her longer than Tae so I should listen to her. So petty. I thought to myself.

Once I got to the bench the three boys were already there.

"The queen has arrived gentlemen" jimin says jokingly as I roll my eyes jokingly.

"Hey Abrielle come sit here" Tae says as he pats the seat next to him.

I was going to until

"Good morning!" The twins says in unison

They arrived

"Good morning" everyone said with smiles

"Hey Tae I need help with this one problem for homework that I can't seem to figure out" Cassie says making her way through the empty seat that was supposed to be mines.

Ignore him Abri ignore him. I said to myself

So I sat between Jungkook and Jimin instead.

"Hey Abrielle wait up!" Tae shouts as I walk towards our band class

Ignore ignore ignore I thought to myself knowing Cassie was next to him.

"Tae's calling you" Jimin says making me act oblivious
"Huh what?" I say walking faster as I finally reached the class
"What is up with you weirdo. We have assigned seats remember. No ones going to take your spot" he says with amusement while I brush his comment off

The whole class time Tae was trying to talk to me I tried dodging it.
It was hard though since I sat in between him and Jimin.

After numerous times of trying to talk to me. He finally gave up and pouted throughout the whole class.

Lunch time came and Jimin finally asked
"What's wrong did Tae do something that made you upset?"

"No"
"Then what's up with the cold shoulder towards him I thought we were all going to be besties" he says trying to lighten up the mood
"Cassie. She doesn't want me talking to him anymore. She likes him, so she can't have me standing in the way I guess."

"I knew it, that's why she confronted you yesterday about it yeah?"
"I guess"
"Dang she just met the guy though"

"She sounded serious so I don't really mind"
"You're going to give in cause she's your best friend right?"
"Exactly"
After that Jimin just changed the subject knowing that I really don't want to go more forward with this conversation.

School ended

And Jin's late again

He's always been late ever since he got his license last year.

Ugh I thought to myself as I received a text from him just now.

I'll be there in 20 min. Had to do some extra school work. Love you.

Typical I said in annoyance

All my friends left and I have nothing to do but wait. I didn't want to wait at the front knowing it was crowded. So I made my way to red bench.

Surprisingly someone was already there. Laying on the bench.

It was Tae.

Just as I was about to turn and make my way back to the front he yelled.

"WAIT!"
Fudge nuggets I thought to myself as I turned around.
It's okay Cassies not here so I'll be fine I told myself repeatedly.

"Heyyy" I said awkwardly
He got up and patted the seat next to him.

We sat in awkward silence for awhile. Until he broke it
"Jimin told me everything"
"Huh?" I acted dumb
"The whole "don't talk to Tae because I like him" situation"
"Ohhh" I said awkwardly
"I know you guys are best friends. But I think you're really cool. And I want to be friends with you too. Which means I don't want you to stop talking to me."
"I-"
"What if we just talk during band. And after school we can text. You have a phone right?"
"Yeah"
"Give me your number" he says pulling out his phone and handing it to me.

"I don't think this is a good idea" I said hesitantly

"It'll be our little secret. I won't tell anyone I promise" he says with a smile.

I thought about it for quite some time and gave in
Promise? I say holding out my pinky
Promise he says wrapping his pinky around mines and sealing it with our thumbs connecting.

"Maybe Jimin and Jungkook can know" I say knowing for them it won't be a big deal.

Next morning....
"You gave your number to him but not me!" Jimin says whiningly as I sat there eating my bagel in peace or was.

I thought getting here 30 min earlier before class starts would mean peace and quite on this red bench but nope they were already here before me.

"Yeah what's up with that? Are we not that close to you the way you are with Tae" Jungkook but's in making me stick my tongue out to him playfully as he does the same back.

"I've known you guys for three days. Relax."
"Ouch. It has been the best three days of my life" Tae plays along while holding onto his chest acting as if it's been shot to the heart making the other two boys mirror his actions.

They were right it's been only three days and I felt as if  I knew them my entire life.

"Fine you want my number here" I say handing my phone to them as they typed their numbers in excitingly.

"Here now you can text me everyday even on weekends" Jimin says making the other two look at him with annoyance.

"No she'll be talking to me since we share a lot of  the same interests right Abrielle" Tae says hoping for an agreement.

We talked a lot after we exchanged numbers. He was right we did have a lot in common. In music, movies, artists, and more. Which made us a little closer than we were when we met.

"All three of you can text or call me. Now stop it" I say finishing off my last piece of bagel.

"Hey guys!" Cassie shouts as she makes her way towards our direction.

Time to ignore Tae again.
