Mr. Ford woke up early next day. He had an experiment to conduct. He woke Hoffman up and they went in front of the door of Dr. Stevens.
Ford gave Hoffman his watch and said, “Hold this… Inspect how much time I take to make the test run. Start from… now!”
Hoffman started walking through the hallway. He stopped in front of the door of the old room of Lady Anna, where the murder was committed. He waited there for a six to seven minutes and started walking again. He stopped in front of the room of Mr. Patel, and again stood there silently for a couple of minutes. Ford again started walking towards the dining hall. Just when he walked through the door of the dining hall, he said, “Stop! Now tell me… how much time did I require?”
Hoffman replied, “Thirteen minutes and twenty seconds.”
Hoffman was pretty confused by this strange experiment of Ford. Hoffman asked Ford, “Is this even relevant? Shouldn’t we be having our breakfast. If not, then I am going back to sleep!”
Ford replied, “Of course, we will have breakfast now.”
Ford was smiling as he spoke.
Hoffman asked, “What is with smile of yours? The sea making you crazy?”
Ford had solved the case.
